In 2017, the Houston Astros emerged victorious against the Los Angeles
Dodgers in one of the most hard-fought World Series in Major League Baseball. Two years later, it was revealed that the Astros had committed and benefited from one of the biggest cheating schemes in sports history.
Andy Martino is the author of the book "Cheated: The Inside Story of the Astros Scandal and a Colorful History of Sign Stealing." The book has been hailed as "the definitive insider story of the cheating scandal that rocked Major League Baseball in 2019, bringing down high-profile coaches and players, and exposing a long-rumored 'sign-stealing' dark side of baseball."

Yes. I actually think that a lot of the younger guys probably wanted to try to win straight up without cheating. But ownership and management put pressure on them and they had no choice. So instead we have video of them cheating against teams like the White Sox and the Mariners who each lost over 100 games that season - you would think they would have at least tried to beat them without cheating, but they had no choice. They had to cheat because ownership and management wanted them to cheat. It's a shame because the 2017 championship is forever tainted.

I hate that people are saying "sign stealing". "Sign stealing" is one thing. "Pitch sign stealing" is an entirely different thing. Simple sign stealing was once considered an art. What they astros did was just plain cheating. Cheating the game and cheating the fans. How can people be such low lifes?

Go back and listen to his interview with Ken Rosenthal after the 2019 ALCS after that walk off home run a slider no less off of Alroldis Chapman when facing Chapman, you’re not sitting on his slider that he throws 12% of the time you’re sitting on his fastball The interview clearly demonstrated the three things that are a liar does when he’s asked a question he doesn’t wannt answer Altuve asked him to repeat the question he laughed and then he give more than one answer to the question. He didn’t want his jersey ripped off for a reason and it certainly had nothing to do with his wife and or that he was shy so Andy Martino you’re absolutely wrong just because it was reported he didn’t want the sign doesn’t mean squat there wasn’t only one good player on that team. They’re all guilty. They all cheated, and they only have themselves to blame for 2019 because of what they did in 2017 and finally baseball is being delivered, eight games out and in last place in the AL West, who just watched their crosstown rival win the World Series the Houston Astros won’t even make the wildcard this year their ranked 25th and major-league baseball right now while the Dodgers and Yankees in first place in their respective divisions and have remained competitive since without cheating Houston’s less than nothing

No one cheated like the Astros. If you understand or have ever played baseball, imagine not having to worry about what pitch was coming - no late nights studying videos, no hours spent reading scouting reports . . . in fact, who needs scouts? At that point, it's not even baseball, it's like hitting in a batting cage.

I have this fantasy where the Astros win the title without cheating this year, next year, whatever. Then the commissioner of MLB comes out after the win and hands off them trophy with one hand while turning to walk away: "Here ..." *leaves* One can dream...

It’s one thing to not like a team but us Houstonions care about that 2017 win. Hurricane Harvey just happened and we lost a lot of people and a lot of homes. It’s not fair to the fans of the Astros. MLB doesn’t even upload clips of the Astros on their TIKTOK and it’s like WTF 🤬

@@TheCaesarion I agree with you. Houston did NOT deserve to be associated with Hinch & Co. You guys deserve a title as much as every other MLB fan, just not with an asterisk. They cheated MLB, but also you fans most of all. It just sucks that they sucked you into this.

I think that the 2017 team was good enough and might have won even if they played straight without cheating. We'll never know.

Yes, I agree. No need to dwell. The Manfred Report made it clear. They cheated throughout the regular and postseason. I heard that the other MLB players call them the skidmarks, because they are dirty, brown, crusty, stinky cheaters. Is that true? If so, I think that is uncalled for and they should stop.

No one has ever cheated at the level of the 2017 Astros. Literally 11 players having career years. Some - Jake Marisnick, Marwyn Gonzales, Josh Reddick - at OPS increases of 200+, just ridiculous. None of those players will live this down, they will never see the Hall of Fame.
