I took lessons from Carl a few years ago...the experience was unreal: mid lesson I asked him how he knew "where to go on the guitar neck so quickly?" He told me to name a note, any note at all...I said "G sharp" , he then proceeded to fret and play G sharp everywhere it was on the neck...WITH HIS EYES CLOSED! I asked how he does that and his reply was..."This guitar and its music is how I make a living...I have to be as good as I can be...practice" True story.

Carl is certaiinly on my list of the most accomplished guitarists I´ve witnessed - just amazingly beautiful and musical playing. I admire equally how unassuming and friendly he seems...bravo!

They should have cut the song 'hard times' with images of them unloading the vintage princetons from his 911 Porsche that woulda been artistic

Is it me, or is the strat a bit out of tune?
@gdasilva8 жыл бұрын
+Erik Ceman it's you, sorry. guitar is perfectly tuned.
@erikceman53548 жыл бұрын
gdasilva Really, were you his guitar tech that night and personally tuned the guitar?
@gdasilva8 жыл бұрын
+Erik Ceman no, but I think what you may be hearing is the fact that he is using unusual chord voicings, played on a clean amp, that is all.
@gdasilva8 жыл бұрын
+Erik Ceman there is also some chorusing on the tone which may be the source of detuning that you are hearing.

Plays the notes but missing soul....
@zachbingham35577 жыл бұрын
Jim Schmidt What about the 10,000 hours spent mastering the instrument, possibly at the detriment to other things in his life? Does that not count as "soul"? Carls dedication speaks to me and that is soulful.

Just because he’s good and has incredible technique doesn’t mean he has no soul. I think some people view anyone better than them as “soulless”. Or perhaps the producers and artists on the thousands of sessions he’s played on were looking for soulless.
