A half-century ago, the Yale Institute of Sacred Music (ISM) was established through a gift from the Irwin-Sweeney-Miller Foundation of Columbus, Indiana. After starting out with one administrator, three faculty, and ten students, the Institute is now a thriving international community of well over a hundred faculty, students, and fellows who-from a breathtaking diversity of perspectives and disciplines-explore, consider, and foster the ways that people have manifested their faith through worship, music, and other forms of artistic expression.
