I love the SNES fake out because we get to see them react to what they think is just the SNES version, which that alone could've been huge. But then they transition into 3D and everyone got 30x more excited.

I haven't played this game. But one thing I can say is that love can be infectious. I love seeing people reacting to something they hold dear and near with their childhood/past time and there is nothing to be ashamed about it since I have been there with the games have been rereleased/remaked/new installment. I hope this game does sell well.

This was a great game on SNES. I still have an SNES that still works and everything I go to a glee market or used game store I look for Super Mario RPG. Each time I get told by the seller that they can’t keep that game on the shelf. So this remake is a dream come true. I hope you do get to play this remake and enjoy it as much as those that loved the game does.

This game never released over here in the UK on the SNES, and I wasn’t able to grab it on the Wii U virtual console before the Eshop shut down, so I’m very much looking forward to finally being able to play this.

the original is Final Fantasy 6 era square making a mario game with the dkc pre rendered 3d visual style they used at the time, it's...phenomenal in every sense of the word. I loved it so much as a kid.

Yes, when I saw the trailer, I was ecstatic to simply have Mario RPG on the go (thinking of it as an NSO release), but when they did a Geno Flash to the remake, I was bursting in happy tears😻😹😻😹😻😹😻

Honestly, the remake might actually get me to join the Geno for Smash bandwagon. I was very adamant about him not getting in, mainly due to the lack of current relevance. Not anymore. XD

I dont need Geno in Smash anymore. Geno in Smash was always a fallback dream because NOBODY ever believed they'd ever remake the game or give us a sequel. We all wanted to be with Geno again in any way possible, so Smash was one of those outlets. Screw Smash, this is MUCH better.

Some people may not understand this, but this has been seen as a lost dream since there were too many copyright issues for Nintendo to use it in the past and fans knew that Geno and Mallow, despite being beloved characters, would never be in a game ever again. This game is one that they never believed could be a remaster or even referenced again. Many didn’t dare to dream for a remake or even having it ported to Nintendo online. For me, this is a dream come true.

There is good reason for that. An explination for why that people may not get immediatly is that despite it just being our favorite characters it's also a sign of hope. Square enix and nintendo absolutely despise each other. This game is nearly 30 years old. It's not just about the marketing hell a game like this would have to go through its about companies finally reaching an agreement to let it happen, about nintendo acknowledging the game exists. About square willing to give up the rights to let people enjoy something. The fact this game exists feels like voodoo witchcraft that someone sold their soul for.

PapaGenos had a more subdued reaction because someone leaked it to him about a week in advance. He didn't know the release date, only that it was coming. I know that if he hadn't been told in advance, he would've gone wild. Also, hearing Emile swear is so rare that it gives me whiplash.

Day one, buy for me. I don't care anymore. Day one for me. I can't believe I get to experience this masterpiece of a game. The hype is real for this remake. This direct meant so much for me as a die-hard Mario fan.

I cannot begin to put into the words the joy and emotions i felt from this reveal. Never have i been so excited over a game announcement before. And seeing everyone else react nearly the same as me brings such a big smile to my face. This game holds so many fond memories for me and i never thought i'd see it be remastered, nintendo dropped a literal nuke of a direct and i CANNOT stop thinking about it!

Most of those people were not even born when the OG Cameout. For us old gamers, this remake hits harder. I was 14 when the OG Debuted 😢. Soo many nostalgic memories of the Original debuting, the Toys R Us reveal, Gamepro magazine promotion, Electronics Boutique, Babages, KB Toys. It hits harder for us older gamers twice as hard 😢

Just goes to show, once again, that Nintendo Fans are among the most passionate fandoms in the world. I saw this drop during free time at work so I had to be a much quieter version of this, but I know full-well how legendary this game is and I'm super happy. Gotta play the original now to prep! Edit: Felt the need to add this statement; There are times when things just snap into place perfectly and something deeply right happens in the world. This is one of those times.

Ditto, I’ve spent this entire 48 hours obsessing over just what this moment means. Like me, the SMRPG fanbase has a very real and deep emotional connection to the game. You don’t see that often, especially for a one off that gets sidelined for 27 years, all those years we’re wishing for one thing and suddenly it finally comes true. How lucky are we?

I’ve literally been voting for the guy since the Melee days. I think seeing people respond to this game coming out finally made me understand. This game was truly buried courtesy of Squareenix and Nintendo’s cutthroat antics. And despite it starting 2 beloved series in the Mario franchise, AND inspiring even further from the STRANGEST combination of Mario and Final Fantasy…it really hasn’t gotten its spotlight other than the adoring fans trying SO HARD to show people this delight exists. It’s been nearly 30 years, but people FINALLY get to see it. Closest we’ve ever gotten was the Wii re-release onto its shop, and Geno’s ONE reference in Superstar Saga which couldn’t even be brought back for its remake when Alphadream went down. (RIP) TLDR, people FINALLY unburied this one from under the woodwork where it NEVER should have been in the 1st place.

I've never ever played any Mario games in my entire life but I'm a fan of RPG games, years later I would learn of Super Mario RPG but even to this day I'd never played it or own a copy even though I wanted to, now that a remake is finally being made I know I must get my hands on a copy of this remake hopefully this Christmas

Let this be a very hard lesson, not only to Nintendo but to every developer out there. The original formulas were amazing and there was never a need to reinvent the wheel. SquareEnix better pay attention specifically because they are dancing on a razors edge screwing around with the Final Fantasy series. We don't need flashy combat, we want the old formulas of the games that were made perfect to begin with.

If only we could be lucky enough to get SquareEnix to realize how to make rpgs again. Turn-based with intricate storylines was their kingdom. Active fighting games disguised as rpgs is not the way to go. Squaresoft and Enix both knew how to make fantastic generation passing rpgs and then they got married and forgot where they came from.
