I love it how at the beginning he’s playing Garryowen, to be fair it’s a Irish song.

David Kincaid is an American musician who's one of the leaders of the band The Brandos. He released an album of Irish-Civil War songs called The Irish Volunteer. The title song of the album is what he plays in the video. You can find out more about the album here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Irish_Volunteer. He only plays the songs with traditional instruments that would have been played during that era. He really does great things with the songs.

macster11 David is from Seattle Wa and I think grew up on Whidby Island, Wa . In his early years he played with local bands such as the Allies here in Seattle in the early 80's. In the late 80's he decided to move to New York to pursue other things He is and always will be brilliant. I had the pleasure of knowing him well in the year of 1980/81. Will never forget those memories. He is indeed a musical genious!

I have to correct myself here....this is as mandocello, it is to the mandolin as the cello is to the violin. Standard american is tuning CC-GG-dd-aa (same as the cello). He is probably playing in the Irish tuning of EE-AA-.dd-gg i think. The the Irish version of this instrument is the Bouzouki.

Irish bouzouki. A Greek bouzouki adapted for Irish music by flattening the back of the traditionally rounded bouzouki.

Gordon Adams the melody perhaps, but the bonnie blue flag was written in the spring of 1861, while this song mentions manassas(July 1861). That said, I'd just love to hear him play The Bonnie Blue
