aye man….i had to come back and watch this TWICE. i luv it, i luv it, i luv it. you give me so much inspiration as a black person wanting to get more into commentary/editing/etc. keep it pushing, ur doing great also…i need to know what runaway edit you used in the beginning or if you made it yourself. that intro is so stripped back and “bare bones” compared to some others but i mean that in the best way bc man…that was powerful.

Carmy in season 2 is some of the best undiagnosed autistic representation to ever grace the medium of television.

Hmm, I’m not sure it’s quite that obvious that he’s autistic. As a neurodivergent person myself, I am always excited to see it represented in cinema, or shows as great as this one. Food for thought: Intense inter-generational trauma and CPTSD can manifest in ways that are similar to un-addressed autism. And we saw the depth of the chaos he comes from, with a father figure who was absent/gone much of his life, a mother figure exhibiting deep narcissism and substance abuse, and an older brother (aka his father figure) also clearly struggling with a lot. Emotional regulation was never modeled for him. I believe he’s got complex PTSD and the wounds he has not faced or worked to heal/integrate are the reason for many of his struggles.

Absolutely love this show. Im in the minority I guess, right there with you about Claire. I really appreciate seeing the younger/current generation Carmy, Syd, Markus running parallel with each other tryna get to the same place. And that the older generation, Tina & Richie are shown that you dont have to get left behind, opportunity does keep coming and it may have taken you a little longer, but you did find your train, you can still move forward. Thank you for the great video, the great work. Ive watched it already, and so I would be looking forward to your thoughts and takeaways from Season 3.

Love this review! Also on the “late” train. I just watched all three seasons in less than a week. Overboard? Maybe, especially after feeling attacked by my TV while watching Fishes. But I appreciate the nuance of every episode. Avoiding overly biased reviews about season 3. I’m going to trust the process and look forward to 4. (Letting that Cena cameo disappear into the mist.)
