having listened to frank version probably 100 times, this is my first time listening to the original. it's like a breath of cool fresh air. his voice is so smooth and the instrumentation is so calming, the e-piano is so nice. I love hearing "let me know"

Ernie, tell me about creating the song. Ernie Isley: The first time I played it after I had initially written the song was for my brother Rudolph, just voice and guitar. When he heard me say, “You’re a positive motivating force within my life,” he got this quizzical smile on his face, like how? The syllables and the notes - he goes, say that again? Then he sort of nodded his head like, yeah, that’s pretty good.

I'm way old but when I was 13 and 14, I went to see the Isley Brothers at our Regal theater Days. Their hits were Who's That Lady, Shout and another song we liked. They were all over the stage. Great energy!!!

I was 15 when Aaliyah's version came out. Loved it from the first time. The radio would say Isley remake but I never got to hear it until 04. Now I love this one as well. This new generation has a remake now too. Frank Ocean did it---pretty good.
