When my momma passed. My dad bumped this for hours. My momma was his everything. From 16 years of age to 42 years of marriage. We lost her in 2019 to breast cancer. Its grain in my soul like his. She was our lady. Aint never letting this go. 🤷🏾‍♂️

He's singing about his death, and leaving the love of his life behind. He's uncertain of what his future holds. He asks his love to let him go, so he can be free to go voyage to the uncertain. He is confident in his belief that a new love awaits him but his first love he will never forget. Verse 2... He comes back to her at the end of her life. His hopes are that his first love will be his for eternity. They say their goodbyes to the earthly world as he and her are setting sail on a journey to paradise together.

Heard this was my parents song when they were together. They were high school sweethearts. Things weren’t perfect when I was growing up and I don’t remember them being in a relationship bc they broke up when I was still a toddler. They both passed around the same time, when I was a pre-teen. I listen to this song often and like to imagine they “came back” to each other in heaven. RIP Mommy & Daddy 🩵

It's a very deep song .... Atlantis is a metaphor for a deeper meaning. .... This song is really about a deal with the devil .... Atlantis is basically symbolism for the riches and the vast wealth and lands that the devil promises to offer to whoever shall take the quote-unquote trip...... He promises things that you would never seen if you shall take the deal... For the first half of the song Ron is deciding whether he should take the deal or not.... By the end of the song he chooses to take the deal.. the misty lady that he's talkin about is really the devil ... And him sending the hook at the end of the song for almost a minute-and-a-half is basically him knowing that he accepted the deal and that regardless of him wanting to go back on the deal it'll always haunt him because he knows what he's seen on his rise to power in the things he acquired through the deal.... This song has a very deep story playing out it

I feel this song is about a troubled relationship where both individuals have thought about taking separate paths. They are not sure if they can go on without each other. They decide to start love anew. It’s an old love that is now a new love incorporating the changes that both individuals have undergone. That’s what it means to me.

My favorite song of the Isley's. Saw them last week only two left.I would never had know that Ronald is 80 years old. Learned Ernie the guitarist wrote Atlantis. I also learned that their father was born in Charlotte N.C. That was profound considering we were viewing the show from Charlotte. What a show! You guys are wonderful still! Shout out to my friend O'Kelley I will never forget you friend.
