He was right on the money. Hershey's is VERY sweet. It's the only chocolate that requires a glass of milk or water to wash down all that sweetness. Harper should have brought some Ghirardelli squares as well.

Two and a half years ago my wife and I moved from Philadelphia to a small city in Piemonte about an hour from Torino. My wife is a chocolate lover but I am not. The first time we went to Torino with a friend who has lived here all of his life, I went to see the amazing Egyptian Museum I know this is a video about food, but I bet most of your viewers do not know that the largest museum of Egyptian antiquities other than the one in Cairo is in Torino. It is astounding as is the chocolate in any form and coffee.

We know Hershey's isn't good in comparison to other chocolates. But if I'm honest, I've had waaaay worse. It's a good bar to clear, not too low. So being honest, it's a good [bar] of chocolate. Him being honest is enough to praise it where needed. No need to insult it. By the way, Hershey's probably puts more sugar in its chocolate because, so I've heard, it's the cheapest ingredient to put in. So it's a filler. They probably know what so much sugar does to the chocolate, but it makes the profits rise, so it's fine for them.

Did you know that Gianduja was a cheap kind of chocolate at the beginning, when cocoa was too expensive but hazelnuts were cheaper, because they were produced in that part of Italy? Nowadays it is the opposite, hazelnuts are more expensive than cocoa and gianguja too. Also, we have learn to appreciate that combination, and the higher the popularity, the bigger the price is.

@@orvoloco8261 I love Sachertorte… The only way for me to get it is to make it myself. I was lucky back then because I had an apricot tree so getting the ripest apricots was a juicy, soft, starchy, flavorful affair that produced the best of apricot jams. The tree is not in good shape now, so the days of perfect Sacher cakes for me are gone. But the 72% dark chocolate was damn expensive so maybe it's for the best. I'd go there to get one already. I'm not gonna have a hard time learning Italian. I already know Spanish [native] and learned English from sheer computer abuse throughout my whole childhood. Now that I know that they have all these amazing italian dishes AND Sachertorte it's extremely tempting.

All the talk of chocolate and Hazelnuts reminded me of another place where they love that combination and where I studied for a while, Belgium. They’re also a dab hand with chocolate. It’s delicious but very rich. It will be interesting to compare the two versions of chocolate with hazelnut. Harper was a brave man to bring a Hershey bar to Italy. I must say the Italian chocolatier was very tactful about his impression of Hershey’s chocolate. Most Brits think Hershey’s can’t hold a candle to Cadbury’s, although they also had a long tussle with the EU about what real chocolate should contain. Maybe that was another reason for the recent split🧐Thank you for another lovely video.

I suspect Mr Gobino was being polite. Hershey's is infamous for a taste ranging from merely "goaty" to "puke". Americans are used to it so they think that's what chocolate should taste like. The guilty party is butric acid, believed to be a by-product of how they treat their milk. Worth also noting that the minimum amount of cocoa solids in the US for something to be called chocolate is 10%, in Italy 25%...

Safe travels!!! 💖 You’re both amazing 🥰 You guys should go to a pasticceria and teach us about the different seasonal desserts since it’s almost time to say Buona Pasqua, OR do a video of a Calabrian version OR make a Pasquetta video? Lol getting so excited!!!

It was very respectfull of his guests, but also that simple pleasures are often a pathway to much greater delights (one of which I'm certain, he believes his chocolate is).

how interesting Here n Perú the number 1 producer of chocolate was an italian family named D'Onofrio. Two of their mos iconic chocolates are a triangle shaped one and a 3 layered square one, alhuch, this version of the cremino has peanut flavoured cream instead of hazelnut, which are rather unusual and expensive here.

These two really have chemistry. They almost look like they're husband and wife, the way they share the same _giandujotto._

Gianduja, which names the typical chocolate taste of Turin, is the name of a Carnival Character whose name (Originally Gioan de la Doja) means John with mug ('cause he always brings a wine mug on the stage).
