The IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Top Gun is stealthy in ceramic

Many manufacturers have delved into the recent trend of brightly coloured dials fitted to slightly dressier, but still everyday-friendly watches. It's fairly rare, however, that this colourful element continued into the cases, and this is where IWC's ceramic-cased Pilot's Watch line-up comes in. It's no secret that their Pantone-tinged Woodland Green, white Lake Tahoe, and sandy Mojave Desert Pilot's models enjoyed lots of success that resulted in lengthy wait times. Though certainly not as colourful as its predecessor, the new Jet Black (pun intended, I assume) ceramic Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 Top Gun shows off IWC's mastery of the material for the first time in this particular case size, though the material has been a staple of the collection for over a decade.

Bought one of these today. Compared it to the older 44mm. The reduced case size not only sat better on my wrist but the spacing on the dial is improved. For anyone who thinks it’s too thick, remember the 3705 was almost as thick and only 39mm. While the rubber strap is very very comfortable, for overall looks, I wish they had a 20mm textile strap with deployant like it’s bigger brother (21mm).

@@triple_lindy springbars are not fixed. There is a standard springbar on there, and the quick release strap attached to it.

Can you get a deployant clasp for it ?

@@Drushen07 I don’t think so. The iwc folding deployant (like on the 44mm) uses a strap with one very short and one long side. The 44mm has a lug width of 21mm vs 20 on the 41mm, so the strap/deployant combo from the 44 probably wouldn’t fit in the 41 (without some modification). To get the textured fabric look of the 44mm strap, I ordered the rubber/nylon combo that comes with the ceratanium 41mm. I think it looks awesome and the rubber feels great.

@@nicolaspiotrowski4135 yes I really do like it. It's very lightweight and easy to wear, looks good even with dress clothes or with casual wear. Lume is great too

These are IWC watches and are thick, it's the DNA of the brand. IWC is going for smaller diameter sizes to accomodate new customers, but the design of IWC calls for that kind of proportions.

Yes, me too. Why would they be spring bars if you couldn't remove them. The way they did easy change straps is actually better than some others, not worse.

Beautiful dial(while the same layout as other 7750 watches) and interesting material for the case but the thickness makes it look unrefined. IWC should bring thickness down by 2mm at the very least.

omega chronos are 17mm, Longines new spirite flyback are almost 17mm, so 7750 based watches usually around 15mm thick, nothing special here.

Nice but $13,500 Australian Dollars ? Come on mate , which schmuck is going to pay that for a watch that will be worth less than half as soon as you walk out of the store ? Maybe pre owned at a big discount , otherwise no way I’m paying $13,500 for this .

You buy cars that are worth more and deprecate even more...how is a watch any different? Watches are not investments. Buy them for the love of the hobby. Thats it.

The script reading here is not the best, the intonation is all over the place. It sounds like the narrator either didn't write the script or hasn't rehearsed it properly. Just some feedback. Otherwise good visuals.
