On March 21st, 1946, a year before Jackie's MLB debut, Kenny Washington signed with the Los Angeles Rams, becoming the first black player in the NFL since World War 2, permanently erasing the color barrier in football. Nicely done. One of Los Angeles’ greats. Kenny went to Lincoln and Woody Strode went to Jefferson HS, on the other side of town. Both LA Unified School District schools. One can only imagine the friendly teasing they would have had in the UCLA locker room!
