I grew up on this river. For over 30 years I have had a calling for this river. As I got older…. The love has grown to a spiritual level. This river is my church. Best videos on this gem of a river hands down. I go to sleep at night to these videos. They are perfect. The narration to the soundtrack. Incredible!

I'm gonna tell you what. Man I remember when I was a kid back in the 50s and 60s traveling from Michigan down south to out west and to my best recollection all the rivers were soupy, silt filled dregs. I been watching all these current float trips in kayaks, canoes and rafts and seeing these rivers are all pristine clear to the bottom rivers of glassy movement. Hell I remember the Arkansas coming out of Colorado that thing was dark, blue steel dark. I don't know what happened made all these rivers so clean and pristine, but I'll take it 😊😊😊!!! And can't wait for the day I can get out on 'em. Thanks for sharing about the history on Jacks Fork that was real interesting too.

Been going here over 40 years and still get as giddy as a kid every time I head to Jacks Fork. Always stay at Alley, but the river has changed so much at the campground over the past 2-3 years. I've paddled the Current River twice, and love it, both times from Round Spring to the confluence of the Jack's Fork and Current. I have not paddled the Jack's Fork, but really would love to some day. I do not think it's very floatable above Alley Spring most of the year. How would you compare this to the Current? Probably more class 2, but similar scenery and water?
@AVAJourneys
@AVAJourneys 2 жыл бұрын
Very comparable actually. You are correct, Spring is preferred when starting at the Prongs. Rapids are a little more aggressive, but nothing serious. Each river has its unique characteristics. The JF is definitely worth checking out!

@@AVAJourneys Sorry to keep asking questions, we are very interested in doing this trip, one thing I forgot to ask was you mentioned the gauge height being 1.8, and it being mostly floatable in spring, so when did you kayak this trip? Mid May, early June? It's clearly past early spring because the foliage and trees appear to be fully bloomed.
@AVAJourneys
@AVAJourneys Жыл бұрын
@@natesambo9759 No bother at all Nate! I believe that run was in May. I remember watching water levels closely, as the upper portion is dependent upon rain levels and spring contribution. Later in the season, we've been advised it becomes difficult, with some dragging possible; especially at the source.

Great video. I am a fan of your channel. I will be floating the jacks in May and was wondering if you knew if the springs were safe to drink from? Because of liability, park service will not answer that question. We will be spending seven nights on the jacks in the current. Taking advantage of the springs, as you know would be quite helpful. Thanks, Rick from “Blind ranger outdoors”
