It’s beautiful! Especially in that blue. Most of these are in black usually. I totally get why you got it. Just bought a 2003 s80 2.9 in moon dust silver and I love it. It’s a massive tank and so comfy to cruise in. Love ur vids so far, cheers mate.

That looks a nice eample young man. It's not a "weird car", but your ears a weird. I had my first Jaguar, an 4.2L Series SWB XJ6 in my twenties. I couldn't care less at the time if people thought it was an "old mans car". It was my Jaguar and that was all that mattered. When I was a 8yrs old my dad bought a 420G, and that car set me as a Jaguar fan for life. Sapphire blue is a great colour. The headling has sagged and its been stuck back up using interior door trim "fir tree clips". Jaguar headling's were made initially by Pressed Felts in Colne, Lancashire, it became, John Cotton also in Colne, Lancashire, it was bought out by Lear Corporation. Blame the supplier everyone, not Jaguar! Chroming the wheels, they might look great or too much? You need to pass your driving test young man, the Jag will detriorate if its only started and moved around a yard, it needs to be driven. I have recently bought a Jaguar XJ8 which has suffered as a result of being stood. I will repair it and us it. In 1999, when Ford bought Jaguar they did a number of things. Improved manufacturing methods, parts availability, engineering resources and lets face it, improved reliability. Without Ford, Jaguar may not have survived? Now, Jaguar as you know is owned by TATA Motors of India and have joint venture factory making Jaguar Land Rover products in China.

Thanks a lot for all the info! And yes my ears are about as weird as it gets. Glad you like the car tho, and the wheels are definitely going chrome. And don’t worry car is being driven, will be on learners insurance for now and being driven when I can.

X300 is such an excellent car. Jaguar had got it properly sorted as the car and engine and been around essentially since 1986 and 1983 respectively, so had many opportunities to get it right. Love those wheels. Only bettered by the XJ220-esque XJR-6 wheels IMO although the V8 XJR wheels also look good.

We’ve had several x300 and loved them: still have one!!! They are strong runners and probably will not cost you too much because they don’t break down. Rust is the car’s worst enemy. We didn’t get the 3.2 in the States, but I suspect it is as reliable as the 4.0. I think it’s great a young man has wonderful taste and style.

That’s so cool! Yeh the 3.2 is a great engine very strong, and appreciate the kind words! Over in the uk you look very odd being anything younger then 50 with one of these 😂

Rust is the enemy of nearly every car from the 1990s. I spent £2700 last year getting the rust sorted on my E39 M5.

@@lewis72 yes, we had a beautiful red van den plas (Daimler) and I foolishly drove it in bad weather and paid the price. We now have a gray x300 which sees light duty and I also have a black series 3 which mainly goes to shows and occasionally to work.

@@marial8235 Even though I have two BMs, I am a Jag man through and through. Must get myself 1 or more of: - XJ-S - XJ S3 - X300 - X308 - XK (X100) - XK (X150)

This was actually the first proper ‘Ford’ jag, but that is a good thing because they sorted out the build quality issues and the X300 is often considered to be the most bulletproof of jags

I had a 4.0 Sport and was the best Jaguar I have ever owned. Rust underneath and on wheel arches is the biggest enemy now. The digital clock displays always went faint but can easily be replaced and the roof headlining always sag. Hence why yours is pinned. Should be smooth from new. Can be replaced by a trim specialist for about £350. The Sport models had all black trim around the windows as well. Enjoy your great car. The straight 6 engine won't let you down!

I love my non sport '95 XJ6, bought to preserve and see out my 30s. It's basically an XJ40 wedged between a new nose and tail. Better than that bloated X type from the Gordon Brown era though.

My 1995 x300 developed an intermittent failure to crank in park then failed altogether. After comsulting a local specialist followed advice, removed trim around gear selector and 4 phillips screws holding shifter in place, and there it was the culprit micro switch or inhibitor switch just as described. I bent the metal a little bit and repositioned the gear lever in park. The car started immediately. Hope this helps.

I would have owned a Jag XJ when I was 23 if I could have afforded it ! As it was, I had a Rover 2600 Vanden Plas SD1 AND a Triumph 2500PI instead when I was 23, followed by a Saab 900 T16S.

Black wood and partially black interior came with sport package. Atleast in x308. Headlining is the worst guality. That's why it is pushed back up with buttons.. Engine has very loud bearing noise. I'd bet somehere from the aux belt line. Maybe the belt squick might give you a tell tell sign. There is powersteering pump noise too, maybe.

@@orvillefindley8117it really isn’t. Ford spent millions after seeing the terrible state of Jaguar’s factories and modernised them with proper tooling and machines. The Ford Era of Jags created some of their most reliable models like the X300 here and X150 and the AJV8 eventually became one of the most bulletproof V8s around! For a while, Jag was head to head with Lexus in reliability surveys during this period too!

No they are cheap because they have the REPUTATION of unreliability and expense. The previous model was unreliable but they are now more expensive than the X300. Right now this version is at it's cheapest but starting to increase in value. Mine is effectively 36 mpg because it has an LPG tank in addition to petrol. It's done 286,000 miles and still runs sweet.
