Tim reviews one of the finest examples of the rare 6.0 V12 Jaguar XJS. This original 1993 model boasts some interesting owner history and the sort after Le Mans engine. We take a tour around the car and find out some interesting history facts about this appreciating Jaguar classic. The current owner then chauffer's Tim around for a while as he soaks up all the history along with the wonderful aromas of wood and leather before Tim gets behind the wheel to experience this monster V12 first hand. The car is totally immaculate and looks as good, if not better than when it left the factory. A must see for all Jaguar enthusiasts.

Owned a ‘94 Jaguar XJS Coupe, I6, always appreciated the styling of this car, especially in coupe version. Unfortunately I was too Jagged up at the time, with E-Type V12, neither being a daily driver and a young family. 10 yrs later the kids always said that the XJS was their favorite car we owned and liked driving in it. Regret selling, but at least I had the opportunity, they weren’t easiest vehicle to get in or out of, but once sat inside they were sooo comfortable. Once driver Las Vegas to Saint Paul, Minnesota in it, which was EPIC!

What a great story. I have worked with the Jaguar brand for 20 years and have met thousands of proud owners of just about every model. Why don’t you buy yourself another XJS? You only live once. Put it this way, it will never loose money. These are now an appreciating classic. Take that EPIC drive once more…

I've owned a 1980 and a 1984 in the past. I must admit I am not a fan of the rear end of the facelift version. The perfect xjs would be an old body style with the 6 litre and 4 speed. I may buy another one day. Still my favorite car, but I currently ride motorcycles daily instead.

Nice one, nah, I think the slimmer rear lights look much better, makes the rear look wider. I used to ride bikes, my last was a huge Harley with stupidly loud pipes and a massive air sucker. Buy yourself your perfect XJS before they go up in value too much, life is too short.

‘the re-vamped LeMans engine” with 396bhp? More like a standard 6.0 V12 with 308 bhp I think. As a JEC Club member I’m sure Nigel Thorley can lend him a copy of “You and Your XJ-S”

Thanks, the owner is a Jag club member and is convinced regarding the BHP. Ive been with the Jaguar brand for over 18 years and although Im no XJS expert it felt quick. It wasn’t as rapid as the Ali 4.2 SC XJ it did feel closer in performance to the previous steel bodied XJR. After all the comments regarding the video I’m going to do some digging to find out whats been done to the engine.

@@TheTimBushChannel Hey Tim, don’t get me wrong the owner is a real enthusiast and the car is absolutely beautiful, a real credit to him, I’d own it in a heartbeat. But it would be interesting to see if this really is some kind of “special” and if not why the owner is under such a misapprehension? Maybe he was told that by the person he originally bought it from? As has been said elsewhere the Le Mans cars were a short production special run (280 units) in 1990 to celebrate Jaguars success at Le Mans that year. Even they had standard 5.3 engines but quad lights, suspension upgrades, posh interior and a few other bits and bobs and “Le Mans” badging. I look forward to hearing your results. Best TonyS

@@TheTimBushChannel The Lister Le mans was tweaked, but this seems like a standard XJS 6.0 V12. According to wikipedia: “Between 1988 and 1989, a total of 326 XJR-S cars were produced with the 5.3 litres (5,344 cc) engine which has a power output of 318 hp (237 kW). After September 1989, the displacement of the engine was increased to 5,993 cc (6.0 L) and it was now equipped with Zytek fuel injection and engine management system. This was different from the standard 6.0-litre engine used in the late XJS models and was unique to this model. The power output was raised to 333 PS (328 hp; 245 kW) at 5,250 rpm and 495 N⋅m (365 lb⋅ft) of torque at 3,650 rpm due to a higher compression ratio of 11.0:1, a new forged steel crankshaft, increased bore and forged alloy pistons. A modified air intake system and a low loss dual exhaust system was also standard on the model. The engine was mated to the 3-speed GM400 automatic transmission utilising a recalibrated valve body and had faster shift times.”
@Deanyfromtheburgh
@Deanyfromtheburgh Жыл бұрын
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 sadly that info has a flaw needing corrected, all 6.0 Jag V12s ran a 11:1 compression ratio, so the XJR-S engine wasn't 'higher' than the regular 6.0,it was the same, and it certainly wasn't higher than the previous 5.3 HE which was 12.5:1.

Indeed The XJRS had the Zytek ignition system & TRW built 6.0L and Lucas HEI amp which continued through to the JagSport models. You can see the two Marelli amps at the front on the radiator cross cover meaning that this car had the standard 6.0L Marelli Ignition and Lucas 26CU ECU computer. JCNA has classes for Le Mans edition judging up to 1991. According to some other documents the Le Mans edition was a 1990 only car between vins 176921 to 178707, and the JagSport XJRS was discontinued in 1993 in favor of the standard 6.0L Coupe. Early JagSport 6.0L engines may have been leftover TRW 6.0L stock. Then again there is at least one 1988 claiming to be a 1 of 65 Le Mans car. I'm not sure even JDHT or JCNA really knows every detail though. The XJR15 had 450HP but that was with Group C intakes, larger base circle cams + the Zytek system on top of being a TRW 6.0L HE engine. Regardless even the standard 6.0L HE feels pretty torquey.

You played a snippet of the original theme from THE SAINT with Roger Moore, but the XJ-S actually made its debut in RETURN OF THE SAINT with Ian Ogilvy, a worthy sequel series. On the other hand, you just want to be as cool as Roger Moore?

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!!!
