My favourite suit is one and only superman none other than Christopher Reeve himself!✊✊✊✊✊✊

Cavill’s suit (Especially the black one) is definitely the best detailed Superman film suit in my opinion.

The BVS suit is a great evolution of the MOS suit and by far the greatest version of the suit. I grew up on the Donner movies but even then, I found the suit campy but was happy to see Superman

Im a fan of the spandex type suits because on John Byrne's Superman run, his mother made his suit which was to state that Krypton made him powerful but it was Martha & Jonathan,his Earth parents that made him essentially the hero "Superman". An alien looking armored suit just doesn't cast light on that aspect of Superman. I wished Christopher Reeve had a bigger physique to fill up his suit but that suit made up for what it lacked in its colors which popped on screen and were just like in the comics I grew up reading.

You know what, that Dean Cain picture looks like something from Alex Ross; the colors, the flowiness, the lighting.

My favorite Superman suit will always be from the Snyderverse (Man Of Steel, BVS, Zack Snyder’s Justice League) I always like the modern approach with it not having trunks. Henry Cavill is my favorite Superman so that helps lol. Obviously Christopher Reeve’s will always be iconic. I have mixed feelings on the suit hopefully we get a better image of him standing up or striking a classic Superman pose. If he stands up and it still looks baggy then 😬. Not liking the trunks but I think we all knew it was coming so it is what it is. I do like that you can see the ‘S’ a lot more (yes I know it’s not really supposed to be a S lol) I’m rooting for David though he looks fantastic in the suit!! Hopefully we get more stuff soon!!

Superman Returns suit doesn’t have micro S’s on the body suit. It does have the diamond pattern design. The Micro S on the body suit was only present on an unused prototype suit. Cape was also latex on the outer layer

Just found you tonight and subscribed. BvS suit and physique are the best of all time in a landslide imo. Everything was perfect on the suit, straight from how youd dream it, and his physique was insane with the rotund shoulders and upper chest profile. He looked phenomenal. Reeve is in his own Stratosphere, cant be compared to, the heart of hearts Superman for the collective unconscious

Ok.. I'm nearly 50 years old.. been reading comics for over 40 years now. Huge part of my life. Superman is my favorite DC character. I loved pretty much every iteration. I firmly believe that the suit doesn't make the man. I don't think the suit is the most important thing at all. But like everything, things change and evolve over the years. Before we got Henry Cavill suits we only had the nylon/spandex type suits and since that is all we ever had, I just sort of accepted them. But we got the Cavill suits. There is just no going back now for me. If I'm being 100% truthful, I hate all of those older suits now. Kirk Alan, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain... all those suits just look like cheap trash to me now. It is what it is. Now if all of those actors truly built a proper physique they may have looked better. But look, they just didn't have the right amount of muscle. Many will say how Reeve trained with a bodybuilder blah blah blah. Yeah he did, but he was too skinny. Plus the understanding of exercise science and nutrition (and other things ;) ) has just gotten better. So up until now, talking about physiques Cavill just is the only one with a proper physique. He is shorter than the other's but overall all he has the look. Now, why talk about the physique when we are just talking about the suits? Well the muscle "padding" Cavill's suits had weren't just muscle pads like the CW uses. They were there to accentuate Cavill's muscles. So we have that great physique and then the suit has the accentuation and there we got. Comic book come to life. For me the BvS suit is the best. Hands down it is the best. I like the BvS S the best and the colors. MoS would be next. Now Corenswet's suit... I really don't like the S at all. I'm not really a fan of the collar. The fabric/texture.. looks bad. And the choice to not have any padding... it makes an already smaller (regarding muscle) Corenswet look even smaller. Oh and the trunks being back.. HUGE fail for me. It's just a horrible look. I look at the older suits I mentioned above and they all have the underpants and it is just a ridiculous look. I don't care that they based Superman's suit off a strongman.. back in the 1930s maybe thats what they wore, but they don't now. Only swimmers need trunks. Other wise it is just a horrible look. So yeah.. I mean, talking about the suits.. this new suit is just an absolute fail for me. The Cavill suits are far superior in every way. Just is what it is. Now sure, just my opinion which one in the millions out there. So.. whatever.

Overall I have positive feelings about Corenswet's suit, but JSComic has an edit without the collar that really shows how close it was to being a _great_ suit. I love the trim that flows from the cape down around the deltoid contours. It's a novel design that really works, and also accentuates the cape attachment. However I _don't_ love the random shapes drawn onto the forearms --- seemingly as if the designer wanted something there but wasn't sure what.

Remember that James Gunn said this movie will be about Clark figuring out his identity, his kryptonian and earth identity, i like to believe that he'll start off with this suit maybe from krypton that we've seen now but as he learns that martha and jon raised him as a human and essentially turned or helped him become superman, he'll end up making or his mother will make him a more iconic suit, just my take, either way love this design

What's with this fascination with the briefs? As I got older, I was glad when Jim Lee redesign and got rid of them.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but Cavill’s suit was NOT altered or redesigned for either the Joss Whedon reshoots (there was neither a need nor enough time) or the Snyder Cut. All Snyder did for his 4 hour version was to essentially turn off the colors on Cavill’s suit and accentuate and lighten up the red-turned-gray parts to look silver. All movies go through color timing… or grading. I don’t fully understand the process, but they can do just about anything.

It looks a lot like the suit drawn by Kenneth Rocafort from way back in 2011 in Action Comics.

What I love about the Dean Cain Suit is that there are so many variations. They really emphasized that his mom made it (them) Some times the S is larger, sometimes, slightly smaller. Sometimes, if you know anything about sewing you can see the satin stitch outlining the S - they either had poor seamstresses or the seamstress actually had problems turning the neck edge correctly, or they did it so the suits looked home made. It is very like a mother learning as she makes more and more of them. Martha, in one episode, says she got the cape fabric on sale - all this makes the suits unique. Of all the Superman shows, Dean Cain's is the most anchored in human every day problems. ( like all his capes get burnt up and his mother is sewing up one while Johnathan is making dinner.)

Seems I read the George Reeve suit was actually colored different shades of brown to make the colors stronger looking in black and white

The suit would have been perfect if it were 1. tighter 2. the yellow on the S symbol were gold and not yellow 3. literally spandex-suit with perhaps tears and rips in the upper chest so show battle damage and 4. no collar.

The Superboy suits are good from the TV show. There was two actors that played Superboy. The problem with some of these suits they really don't look like something that could be made from a blanket. To me that's part of the lore that when Clark was a baby the ship crashed and his parents hid the space ship and saved his baby blanket. Some of these suits I just don't think Martha Kent could have made.

Well played!! Everyone forgets about Kirk Allyn. Superman serials from the 40’s. Also, Brandon Routh had a second suit in the CW as Kingdom Come Superman.

in order of my favorites The MOS ... first and foremost my absolute favorite The Black Suit. It makes me think of the resurrection costume from the comics The Christopher Reeve suit... just because it IS the traditional costume from the comics. I also like that there is no muscle suit. The Justice League costume. I rank it before the Reeve only because i didn't care for the rectangular buckle. Other than that, i love it. I love the Kryptonian script on the emblem and the cuffs. It makes it more alien and i like that. A bit magestic, too. The CW Kingdom Come costume. Finally a suit cut that looked good on Brandon. They could've gone with the traditional emblem and colors and it's the suit that sound been used in Returns. the George Reeves costume. I love the emblem and the cape attachment. I love that it droops in the back like a roman centurian's cape. I forgive the materials because of the time it was made during. The Kirk Allen suit. I find the shoulder attachments for the cape interesting. They were trying to emulate the comics and i like that. the suit itself has a nice cut, revealing a V shape to the upper torso. The Fleischer style costume from Superman & Lois. It was nice to see. Sad to say that they didn't stay with something more like this... not so much the red belt and the Fliescher emblem. They could've changed those to a more traditional emblem and a yellow belt. The Dean Cain costume. here's where we're getting to my least favorites. The one thing i love about this suit is that the cape emblem is finally.. YELLOW ON YELLOW with NO black lines. They are the only ones to get that right. I hated the black lines on the Reeve suit. They use different textures and a slight variation to define the S shape. i don't like the Superman Returns costume at all.... with the exception of the trunks. i like that they lowered the waistline on them. It like more like a speedo that 'granny panties'. I won't get to far into all the things i dislike about it but the emblem is too small and too 3 dimensional. The boots look lopsided and like gardening boots. I also don't like the tight neckline. i don't like at all the Tyler Hoechlin Supergirl or Superman & Lois costumes. They look like he's wearing a mattress. It just looks like bad cosplay. and that brings me to the Gunn costume. I hate the collar, it looks like heavy rubber, it doesn't look like it fits well - baggy, i didn't like the New 52 boots... or any reference to that failed period in the comics. And the emblem.. i just don't know how i feel about that. it's, basically, the Kingdom Come emblem.

I think it looks like Jor-El's tunic as it was drawn in the Golden/Silver Age, which was drawn as a less form fitting suit. From a couple sources I've heard that I consider to be reliable, the suit is much brighter on set. If you look at the blue of the pants the blue of the tunic it's clearly a brighter material that's been hit with some weathering, likely even battle damage (which, I don't think we've ever actually seen Superman with battle damage before in live action.)

Man… i was with you. But, I really liked the Superman Returns suit. That suit kind of was the changing of the guard in terms of future suits across the comic book world. That suit made you “zoom in”, because of the advanced materials and the design. Now, my only flaw, was the symbol being too small. But it made sense because they were influenced by early versions of the emblem also being small. But i loved the material. I loved the color pallet. I loved the weight and texture of the cape. The suit itself, kind of reminded me of a scuba diving suit with how high the collar was, which was something I also disliked. But, everything else with your video, I agreed! Great job.

You forgot Superboy 1/4 from the late 1980s and early 1990s suit's

I actually liked the new Superman suit. It was very different. The new 52 vibe mixed with the Kingdom Come vibe I thought made the suit look interesting. As for the other suits, Henry Cavill looked the best in the Batman Vs. Superman suit. I liked it more than the Man of Steel suit. But my actual favorite live action Superman suit is Christopher Reeve Suite. It's straight from the comics and cartoons. Christopher Reeve is also my favorite Superman of all time. He got me started with the character. As for Batman, my favorite live action suit is The Dark Knight suit and Batman Begins suite. Christan Bale I thought I had the most unique looking Bat-Suits, while Ben Affleck had the most comic accurate looking suit. That one is my second favorite. Christan Bale is my favorite live action Batman and Kevin Conroy is my favorite Batman.

The photo just seems like the day in the lift of Superman and might not really even be part of the movie scene. I was thinking the same thing about the context of the image. Its kind of like this is what Superman does everyday. One of the Men In Black movies Will Smith started freaking out because was going to be destroyed but Tommy Lee Jones was like com down take it easy this happens everyday. And Will Smith was shocked that someone was trying to blow up the planet everyday and the Men In Black save the planet everyday but its just a regular day at the office kind of thing.

I think the Returns suit could have been better if they changed 3 things: 1) brighter red and not maroon brown; 2) bigger S shield; 3) lower collar. It would have looked iconic.

If only Cain's suit had red trunks made from blue material, so they would have this satine effect that trunks had in comics , especially pre-crisis ones as soon as few issues in of original Siegel-Shuster Superman (in consistent way, there was it already in Action Comics #1 (original scan not moder recolors) but it was REALLY consistent design trait by Superman #5 even when literally every single thing about the suit constantly changed like logo, logo's shape, S style, belt (Action Comics #15, first time it had REAL close up with details) or LACK of it (Action Comics #1), belt's buckle including like in Man of Tomorrow/Tomorroverse (Superman #3), boots shape, boots COLOR (Action Comics #7 has YELLO boots and that was years before Captain Marvel!) , cape, cape's symbol on the back OR lack of (Action Comics #1), way cape attaches to the suit OR maybe it is hung together by separate string (Action Comics #15 once again before Captain Marvel), cuffs (Action Comics #1 insides also Action Comics #15 cover). By Superman #146 ie when even sun explanation solidified in the canon you can clearly see that trunks are from completely different material than the rest of the red pieces.

I’m with you on Kirk Allyn. I think the fact they attempted having the pleats for the cape going across the shoulders like the comics kinda elevates despite it having sweater sleeves. I feel like the Returns suit not only muted the colors but muted Brandon’s physique. He was actually quite built for the part but all his hard work was obscured. On the Lois and Clark suit I appreciated the royal blue because it made the bright reds pop more but I didn’t enjoy the S or the Home-Economics class looking belt. With Smallville I at least appreciated them injecting colors back into the Returns suit too bad Welling seemed to be militantly against ever wearing it. Reeve is my number one as well but I also feel shout outs must be given to Gerard Christopher’s Superboy outfit since it’s the only one (besides John Haynes Newton before Gerard) that has the actual comic book S

I would have put Returns a little higher, but agree. As for context of the new suit photo. I think Gunn said it was taken and edited on a single camera, so I'm thinking maybe it's just a caught the guy suiting up on set. Which could lead to why he looks tired. I think the first shot we should have gotten should have been him standing tall with Eagly from Peacemaker on his arm, with Peacemaker in the background looking jealous lol.

I think the photographer for the suit has a specific style that she does for shooting on set. I think James likes her style and is really featuring her style here and I’m not sure if the suits look different throughout the movie but I think it will.

I wasn't expecting you were reviewing other Superman suit as well base from your headline. Now that you mentioned on other suit, I hated most would be SR which is lamest from my perspective. That suit almost give me an immediate impression of a diving suit with red trunk to blend in but with high neckline an shrinking crest emblem. Is a total opposite of it should look like. And yes it has exceeded too many "S" around the concept as if the designer is fetish with the letter "S" which ends up almost like a joke or a lame cosplay. Why my initial impression looks like a diving suit bcoz when you imagine if they ditched the trunk, the entire cutting edge would be a skin tight diving suit which infact he was shooting on the sea level towards the final action. I guess it was meant to fit on those scenes only.

You also forgot to mention Cavills brighter Mos suit from his Black Adam cameo, what are your thoughts on that? Because im not too much of a superman fan but imo its the best version out of cavills suits.

I feel like the *Definitive* modern Superman suit (and actor) still has *not* come around yet. ⚡⚡ The shadow of *Reeve* still looms heavy over general mass audiences. Shame that they dropped the ball with Corenswet. He has the height and the voice needed for Superman, and then they put him in that awful costume.

At least it looks better than the "Superman and Lois" padded suit. The actor needs to bulk up more.....it's the man that makes the suit, not the suit that makes the man.

You sound a lot like Robert Downey Jr. Also, I like the Man of Steel suit the best. I like the tecture, and it feels in place with the other snyderverse movie quality suits that look like they show the heritage of whos wearing it but also how it can protect the wearer.

Speaking of James Gunn superman suit design, it seem to trigger lots of red flags as follow:- High collar which will hinder the shot of Clark Kent signature move bcoming Superman when try to change. The suit seem no longer skin tight but rather tick almost like leather jacket material as if he's wearing Star lord suit and just paste the emblem S to his chest to blend in. Since he's not wearing the traditional skin tight costume, I don't suppose David Corenswet needs to work too hard to bulk up his body? My biggest grief is that how wld Clark hide his suit underneath if it wasn't skin tight? Although it is not skin tight but I can imagine it still looks uncomfortable judging from the tickness of the material and yet still needs to put on a cape. It is my 1st time ever felt that a Superman costume looks redundant to have a cape simply bcoz it is not the skin tight suit but rather loosely wear with high collar that doesn't contribute anymore majestic feature into the design even with the cape. As for the red trunk which we can't really judge at the moment but don't put high hope to it coz most likely it will end up like a short pant rather than a trunk. This is mainly base from the All-Star comic. So let see how it turns out when we finally get to see the entire suit. Not much complain on the boots other than it looks too reddishly rubber tick but probably due to light effect. Overall I didn't hate the costume as much as in SR but I didn't like it either. It has mixture feelings with little hope how it pans out in the movie so far.

This new suit looks too much like a millitary type suit. It makes me think of Captain America's suit, which makes sense for Cap since he's a soldier but makes no sense for Superman. Or like those time travel suits they used in Endgame. Too many unnecessary lines, and I've never liked the collar on the New 52 suit. The collar works really well for dictator versions of Superman, like Injustice, Red Son, Justice Lord etc.

I think the costume looks good, but they took an unflattering photo. In a hero stance ut should look better. I'm not a fan of the high colar.

The Nicholas Cage Superman suit is way worse than the George Reeves one.
