"Never again" is a modern concept; for most of Jewish history people just accepted that the locals would turn on them one day. In a way, 'never again' has been very dangerous, convincing Jews that the world has learned its lesson, and lulls Jews into a (potentially) false sense of security. Only time will tell......

My gradparents are survivers of the 1941 Farhus riots in Irak . It was planned by the natzis and the Iraqies for Shavuot, a jewish holiday, were jews are outside dress white and can be spotted from the crowd. The resemblance to October 7th is really big. They were parayding dead bodies of naked women there too, the British weren't there and it took them 3 days until they came and stopped everything. 3 days of massacre. I never thought I would see holocaust survivers going through this trauma again. I never thought it will happen again. Thank you for this sketch, it's so important.

Growing up in the USSR, we never heard the phrase 'never again', i only ever heard it when we moved to the US. Every time i hear it i think of my grandmother telling me, during a victory day parade in Moscow, when i was maybe 6 and asked about some of hte signs the veterans were carrying, she said 'those are jewish veterans'. they didnt have signs that said Never Again. They had signs that said Never Forget. As Jews we know it happens again and again and again. Saying NEver Again is wishful thinking. Never Forget. Memory lets you be prepared for next time.

In these once again dark days in our history, the people of Israel should know that they have the full and unconditional support of all Jews (bar Ronny Kasrils and a few others) in South Africa. It’s difficult to understand, but Jews are resilient and courageous. The Oct savagery was something I never thought I’d see in my lifetime. Yet, it was there for all to see. Yet, we heard chanting from almost everywhere. I guess the moral compass is lost for now…,I hope not, but we see and hear it everywhere. But there are people everywhere who know right from wrong, who know “woke” has no place in a democracy!who do understand CRT does not belong in a peace loving and democratic society.. We need to work together to build back the culture, society and values we once held dear.

Look how brave and resilient the Palestinians are. They still praise God in the face of an evil ideology which steals their land, treats them like sub-humans and murders 17,000 children and babies and 10,000 innocent women. I hope you realise that Satan has turned your minds to doing great evil ?
