Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!! I’ve been a Corporate Pilot for over 24yrs. 17 of those years I’ve been with the same company. I also have a wife(who Ive been married to for 29yrs) that’s been with an “extremely large” company for over 27yrs, me flying corporate and having a spouse that works full time has been unbelievable! My son is a collegiate athlete and my daughter is a high school athlete as well. I’ve literally, almost, been to every athletic event that they’ve ever been involved with. Tell me what other career allows dads to do that? Corporate flying is awesome!!

Sounds like a great job. I’m glad you found exactly what you want. It’s not easy to find such a job, without overnights in Aviation. I believe Walmart has the same, their jets do day trips mostly with upper and middle management. There are some airlines that are the same. Avelo does day trips only for crews. Allegiant used to be day trips only, but now they do have a limited amount of overnights. For me, I do like to travel. But not like the airline guys. So I do go on 10 to 14 day trips occasionally, but we actually get to sit somewhere for that long and then get a very long time off after such a trip.

@@pilotkaity same, I love being at home. And I do spend a lot of time at home. Yes, I do spend around 100 days a year in hotels, but that leaves 265 days at home with nothing to do job wise. Minus the occasional day trip. We don’t have to come into the hanger. We don’t have additional duties. Just show up for your flights and that’s it.

Thanks for sharing your insights! 🙂 People often talk about the travel benefits of the airline world. (jumpseat/non-rev etc). Does the part 91 world have some sort of equivalent setup that cuts travel costs for you and your family?
@rtbrtb_dutchy4183
@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 21 күн бұрын
Having worked for a part 91 for the last 23 years (out of 32 total) the biggest benefit compared to airline friends was that I made a lot more money the first 15 years. In some cases, almost double. So that paid for flights with the family. Now, they all now make the same or more than me, that benefit has disappeared for me. However, we do keep all our hotel points and airline points. I’ve not paid for a hotel room for vacations in over 20 years now. I’ve not paid for rental cars either. And the airline points help with lowering cost on the airlines.

@@pilotkaity funny you should ask, because for 20 plus years, I was not interested in the airlines. I’m still not, but a few months ago, I did look into the airlines, since there is such a shortage. I looked at Breeze and Avelo, since they hire direct entry Captains. I’m 52 now and can’t start of now with the major airlines for a few reasons: I don’t want to do standby. I don’t want to commute and I don’t want to start at the bottom with salary. Breeze is interesting, but I would still have to commute. So the answer is no for me. All my airline friends hate their jobs. They can’t wait to retire. I would hate to feel that way. I always got to fly 2 types at our company. I’ve also been here so long, I can pick my airplanes to fly. I also transferred to Singapore for 8 years. (2012-2020). My family loved it out there and so did I. None of my airline friends got to do something like that. I have so many stories I’ve done that nobody else ever gets to do. A lot of humanitarian flights that my company volunteers aircraft for. So no, I don’t regret staying away from the airlines.

Thanks for the info but in Part 135/91 do the pilots need to handle baggage as well? I have back issues but with PT n the gym, all is good but I don't lift stuff. Would this be a hindrance in corporate flying? Thoughts?

Hi Kaity Sorry to ask but what type license is required for flying a Gulfstream or other Business Jet solely transporting executives to various destinations or Lear Jet or some of the other dual Jet Engines and do you have to have 20/20 Uncorrected vision for that, and Thank You in advance for your knowledge.
@pilotkaity

You will need an ATP with type rating for whatever jet you’re flying and enough hours to meet the insurance. Corrected to 20/20 is what the FAA requires
