Even though on the surface, these red hot jobs reports and relatively low unemployment look good to the fed and our government there's a lot happening beneath the surface that they could care less to look into. As long as these headline figures come out looking OK they'll just keep on saying the economy is great.

Inflation and recession are currently wreaking havoc on America. The worst aspect of this crisis is that consumers are accruing credit card debt. Credit card debt rose 20% in April alone, while interest rates have doubled in a year. Customers are going into debt to purchase basic necessities due to severe inflation. The collapse has undoubtedly begun.

Every day brings new challenges. It has become the new norm. We thought it was a disaster at first, but now we realize it's the new normal to which we must adapt. This year will be a year of great economic hardship for the country. What initiatives can we take to earn additional revenue during this period of quantitative adjustment? I can't afford for my hard-earned $200k to fall to dust.

I quit my job on march 21. It was night shift, it made my life miserable. I saved 2 months salary and started applying. I turned in over 100 applications and cover letters. My references were contacted so many times. I finally start my new job jul 15. And my new job is from a previous employer, who just happened to know i was unemployed and called me up. I have a college degree in business management- i have 25 years experience in my field. The job hunt was SO demoralizing! It was so rough to be rejected over and over again.

She has a strong solid work history, great references, immaculate background record, etc. So she eventually said screw it and gave up looking for about 6 months. Then stumbled upon an open position at the daycare our child was going to and is now working there for pennies on the dollar compared to what she was making. So....what's the deal?

Blame the corporations; they're the ones giving the FED bad data. It's unemployment insurance fraud. They create ghost jobs so they can pump up their (employment to job vacancy) that they provide to each state. This allows them to tout 'big job numbers' and get a tax-deduction towards the state unemployment fund. HR are given directions to perform 'interview' quotas so that the state can't prosecute them for fraud. On top of that, the economy sucks.

It sounds to me as though management is simply justifying their existence with an endless search for the "perfect" candidate. So wrong to use people that way- people in desperate need for work. Time is money and how cruel to put people through this sharade when there really is no job.

Stop falling for the age old trick of ownership pitting workers against one another while they bend everyone over and take everything. They have record profits. No one forced them to exploit the global south. They lobied for it and did it. They never in a million years would voluntarily hire domestic labor for more if they can exploit people in cheaper COL areas for less. There is no more juice left in that squeeze considering they are essentially using slave labor at this point. They now HAVE to apply that squeeze domestically. The issue has always been the lie of infinite growth. It will only get worse under our current economic system. They have a fiduciary responsibility to maximize profit and that is all they are doing, the system is currently working exactly as intended. It just never was designed to work for us.

As of November 23' when I graduated from college and got my A.S. in Computer Science majoring in Cybersecurity, I applied for 100 jobs for 5 months until March in the Tampa area and got 1 interview and it ended up being a 1099 sub contractor job being a field technician which basically does hardware and software repairs on computers. I lasted a little under 2 months at that work cause they lied about healthcare coverage and being 1099. So nothing to do with my degree. Its Hard as heck to find work it seems and no one wants to hire without 83 years of experience in the field. I gave up and I'm back where I started before school. In hospitality. Very demoralizing.

My sister was a law professor in Florida after years as an assistant DA for 13 counties in FL. She took and passed the bar in 1996 in FL then worked at several firms and counties until 2016. The law school job she worked towards was a dream of hers. The school let a number of professors go. She was one. She has two kids and my parents had to help pay her mortgage as my brother in law was not making enough. This went on until she landed a job with the US Govt as a lawyer and they now live in PA. During the time she was let go…..about 2 years….she tried to get waitressing jobs, stocking shelves at retail stores etc. Nothing. This was in Florida with all the retail and restaurants! It’s worse now!

Since then I applied to 8000+ jobs, got into 100s of interviews, did free technical work (homeworks/assignments: which most of them were accurate too) for those who interviewed me, been through 5+ step interviews for many companies, made it till the final steps, was ashamed to bother my colleagues multiple times because those companies asked me to provide references. I have not got an offer since then. Outside of tech I have sales and business development experience for oil and gas and electrification, but nobody really calls for interview. Man I speak 6 languages, lived 30+ years abroad, have experience in many fields and Im so hungry to get a proper job but all they do is wasting your time with no results in the end. I don’t understand and I don’t know how unemployment is 4 percent. She quit and he still calls her asking her to come back so he can cheat her a bit more! What a selfish turd! Now she works on a contract in scientific research and development. However, they have had her on a private contract with no benefits for the last two years. She is taking on leaderships roles and has now obtained 2 international patents so she has proved her worth. In Oct '23 our entire staff was let go from a production studio. By year's end, still no resume response, I'm wrapping pots to make extra money during the holidays. The lady across from me says her husband doesn't like her working, but things with her husband's construction company have been dead. She said they put in 34 estimates, not one phone call. 4 months later and 100's of applications later, I'm down to my last dollars before my rent and all my bills push me on to the street into a car that I won't afford the insurance for. I got hired at another digital studio, two weeks later with $100 in my account I get my first paycheck right at the time the eclipse happened. Still hanging on, but I'll tell you the job market is an empty blizzard right now. For every lead, there's 100 people firing off resumes within an hour. It feels like throwing darts at the wall. Saving as much as I can. I don't take this one for granted, and pray it lasts. Best of luck out there.

My sister is a psychologist. When she graduated, she couldn’t really find work right away in her field. So she tried getting any job. Even warehouse work and she was repeatedly turned down from being hired for being “over-qualified”. I told her obviously don’t put down her education and she was hired somewhere until she landed a job in her field. In the examples he’s giving, we don’t know the details but it does make sense that the economy is taking a down turn. So if you’re working, now is not the time to quit.

It's unemployment insurance fraud. They create ghost jobs so they can pump up their (employment to job vacancy ratio) that they provide to each state. This allows them to tout 'big job numbers' and get a tax-deduction towards the state unemployment fund. HR are given directions to perform 'interview' quotas so that the state can't prosecute them for fraud. On top of that, the economy sucks.

I recognize the hardships that come with economic struggles like unemployment, job loss, inflation, housing market instability, political uncertainties, and the global impact of conflicts and wars. Making ends meet during such times can be incredibly challenging. To navigate this difficult period, considering alternative job prospects, enhancing skills through online courses, and expanding your network can heighten the chances of securing employment. Moreover, prudent budgeting, exploring available financial aid programs, and seeking assistance from community organizations can offer some relief. How are you currently tackling these challenges? Have you implemented any specific strategies to cope?

Shortly after this, my girlfriend and I had to move in with her dad and step mom, because we simply couldn't make it on my income alone. My girlfriend has been on the job search for 6 months, and I lost my job when we moved because of the distance. Lowe's careers has a chat bot named Luci, if you respond yes to 3 basic questions the store MUST interview you. So for each position there are usually over 25 people interviewed which takes weeks, and sometimes they decide to put the position "on hold," and no one gets hired (full-time), you can barely get a part-time job there. Then the chat bot sends you a survey that asks, "how likely are you to shop at Lowe's after having the interview?" Makes me think its a marketing scheme to drive business, or to make people think their neighbors must be spending lots of money at Lowe's or they wouldn't be constantly hiring.
