True. This is something I wish I had learned when I was younger. Joe makes awesome music on simple basses. I think he even played on a $200 short scale Squier P-Bass on some Vulfpeck tunes. He still sounded great. As long as your instrument is set up properly, stays in tune, doesn't have crackling electronics, or loose hardware, you're good. If you still sound like trash with everything in good working order, it's not the instrument's fault. All the fancy woods and electronics will not save you if you don't practice and learn good technique.

Joe is living the bass player's forbidden dream: he's a bass player that's broken ranks and made it into the spotlight. Normally bass players are hidden down the back of the band, gagged and forced into the shadows. Heck, in most band's music videos we get maybe three brief camera shots of the bass player. Joe is altering the bass-time continuum.
@mrknarf4438
@mrknarf4438 3 жыл бұрын
Well, honestly most bass players aren't that good, they just follow the guitar lead. Which makes good players all the more impressive: a good guitar player is a dime a dozen, but a good bassist? Now that's something! ;)

Funk put bass players at the forefront 🤷‍♀️
@paoloantonio1531
@paoloantonio1531 3 жыл бұрын
Like Knarf said, a lot of bass players are only following the lead guitar. Most lead guitarrist aren't that good, but the guitar is a loud instrument so it's almost impossible to not listen to it. But if the bass player just follows that lead guitar and plays 5 o 6 notes on a loop, even I wouldn't pay much attention to him (and I am a bass player). Bassists like Les Claypool, Geddy Lee, Flea, John Entwistle and such, are very well known because they fucking killed their bass solos and put themselves on the map.

As a seasoned salesman this is the greatest sales pitch I ever seen. Jack Stratton with enough enthusiasm for everybody. you got Joe Dart being very informative about the strings and that volume knob. And don't forget about the demonstration showing em what it can do even Jack got down some. A+ these kids got potential.

Talked to the EB folk about this instrument in discussion seeing that I live in the town from whence it became a bass. They said it runs on 24V but it solely controls the intensity of Joe's head-bob. 100 per-cent true.
