Every good defender I've ever met has a calm, placid demeanor. Defending requires, most of all, patience.

Patience is one thing, but she can't be too calm and placid when opponents are running rings around her. The US needs a dominant enforcer in the backline. Cook is very slow and indecisive. She was able to rely on a good midfield at Stanford and PSG to give the impression that she's a competent defender. The recent embarrassment in Europe vs England and Spain exposed her shortcomings for everyone to see.

Another Lazy effort from Alana Cook in OL Reign back line gets Seattle eliminated from playoffs, She looks simply overwhelmed against any good attackers and is terrible at 1v1 defending, Vladko thinking she belongs in the US back line is laughable.
