Alaknanda is one of the two headstreams of the river Ganga / Ganges, the lifeline of India.
Other one is Bhagirathi, and a similar video about Bhagirathi can be watched here:
• The Journey of Alaknan...
-
QUICK NOTE: The photo of Rudraprayag shown in the video at 08:16 is actually of Devprayag. Had a little file management error, I guess. Sorry about that!
-
Like Ganga, Alaknanda has a massive influence in the region it flows around and has shaped the history and culture, as well as the terrain of this particular tract of Himalayas.
Alaknanda flows in the hilly region of Garhwal division for the entirety of its 195 km long course. It originates at the confluence of Satopanth and Bhagirath Kharak Glacier in high Himalayas close to Badrinath-Mana, meets with 4 major tributaries ahead creating four of the five Panch Prayag in the process. At the fifth one, Alaknanda meets Bhagirathi at Devprayag at the end of its course, the river ahead is called Ganga.
This video takes you on a journey from the source to the destination, with a lot more in between.
Enjoy!

The production values are truly world class here😍. I just love your visual style, and can't get enough of it, combining soft, fuzzy and colourful 3D visuals with remastered historical paintings, photos, maps and engravings. This video however felt too dense, and pacing was a bit hard to follow (even if I'm already familiar with many of the mentioned places). Overall, each and every second of this video is a testimony to the sheer hard work and research this must've taken. I really hope it gets the audience it deserves 🤩.

As a Himalayan enthusiasts it's my dream or motive to visit the origin of both bhagirathi and alaknanda along with their tributaries. Few weeks ago i completed the half of the dream which is Bhagirathi origin and with the sense of extreme joy and determination I'm in hope and excited for Alaknanda and Dhauli ganga ( which can be a little hard to reach basudhara tal) but fingers crossed. Really appreciate the hard work you put in to make these video editing, gathering information, script which is so good that one do not need visuals. You're doing great. 🙌

The amount of hardwork you have put in terms of content and the visuals is just so commendable . This is how our current and coming generations are going to learn much more than their history books with black and white pictures. Hats off to you and I hope you get many million subscribers. Keep up the amazing work 👏

Although most of the facts regarding Alaknanda drainage system were known to me but the visuals included in the piece were really helpful. You have made a good use of technology to bring home the facts about Alaknanda drainage system.
