Dude.... This is an amazing video. I remember you said that your day job isn't in magic, but what actually is your background? I ask because I am a math and computer science guy, and I feel like quite a few of your videos are made just for me! Also, one thing I might want to see is how you go about actually scripting these videos. They way you, for lack of a better term, teach/lecture is so fluid. The way you introduce and then explain a topic is really really good.

First off, I’m really glad it doesn’t come off as “campy” to you. I’m always worried that I’m either not doing justice to the ideas (especially for the people like you who work with that knowledge daily) or that I’m trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Second, thank you very much for the comment about my style. I really do appreciate it

I am a linguist, and did some syntax work for a couple years, and your mentioning the compression concept really took me back to those days. We cross compare language data to try and find what the most necessary universals are that generate our utterances. And now here I am many years later, a school teacher that picked up magic to keep things interesting in the classroom, and you have brought those things together. It's funny how a concept can be so elucidating that it follows you wherever life takes you.

@@Chronyql It's great! I was into trading card games as a teenager, and learned a few flourishy things doing that. A student saw me doing them while I was fidgeting and asked me if I could do a magic trick. I had to say no, but thought, "why /can't/ I do a magic trick?" I find gambling themed table stuff the coolest, but I have yet to think of ways to perform stuff like that for young students without the gambling themes due to obvious ethics issues. Appreciate the reply, and love your channel!

You are a kindred spirit, Jeremy. Studied math/physics UC Riverside decades ago and paid my way performing card magic at the local university coffee shop. Retired now, but still love the card magic. Thanks for reminding me of Hugard's book. I haven't looked at it in years. Am dusting it off and giving it a re-read. Oh, and Sudoku is on all my devices to play with when I want to just kick back and relax or waiting for something. Your channel is always fun view. Looking forward to many more here on KZfaq (sorry I'm not on social media).

Thank you Jeremy for the great video(s) !!! I am from a small country called Greece ( i 'd be surprised if you 've even heard of it ) . Not a magician , just a father of a 19 month daughter who wants to impress his little girl in the future! I just want you to know you are helping me digg deeper ! your videos are inspirational ! If sometime in the future you want to do a video for beginners and enthusiasts i recommend something for the only thing i struggle finding in a book or video. Hands ! I will give you an example . If i wash my hands ,dry them and grab a deck of cards i feel i can handle them a lot better . If my hands are dry ( they do quickly) it's like a good deck becomes a very used deck . I can understand it has to do with moisture .what i don't understand is how can i protect my hands from being dry ! Just a thought from a non professional fun !!! Thanks again for the great videos and the inspiration .

I would love to see your point of view on this: what is the difference between magic and technique? It would be really interesting to understand the relationship that you have with the object (deck of cards) and what do you consider real magic. :)

What do you think are the best card magic trick books (Beginner/intermediate/Advanced)? Are you more into doing and perfecting sleights than doing tricks using those sleights or are both just as important?
@Chronyql3 жыл бұрын
I’ve come to learn that both are important to me. But I also believe you could go either way. I spent years just chasing sleight, and avoiding routines. And I know plenty of people who did the opposite, and we were both totally happy. As far as the best magic books, I loved anything written by Roberto Giobbi, Tommy Wonder, Ben Earl and Darwin Ortiz
