You can be more productive than people think: 1) Be driven and ruthless by outcome- make sure what you are doing is important - "business is a form of laziness" - 20% of activities produce 80% of results 2) Eliminate interruptions and distractions - unplug all communication when working 3) Set a time frame for yourself - Maximum results in minimum time - ex. I'm going to block out 1 hour and finish as much as I can - Challenge yourself to finish work faster each time I hope this made you even more productive! :)

YES to all of this! The busyness is laziness really resonated with me. I see people chugging along in their hamsterwheel never getting anywhere. I love my unscripted, uncluttered time SO much. And LOVE what you said about unplugging and avoiding distractions and interruptions. So simple and yet almost no one does it.

Learn a Trade, Invest in yourself, personal development, do something you love doing 👍. I have always loved working on cars so I got a job at a car wash making 8 dollars an hour, then I got my certificate of Detailing there to buff and polish paint. That Certificate opened my opportunities to go work at a Detail shop so thats what I did, and started working on some really nice cars at 10 dollars an hour. At that Detail shop over a period of 3 years I learned wet sanding and paint correction as well as some ceramic coating skills. 6 years later If I polish paint my hourly rate is 50 dollars! It is simply what I charge per hour. Now see how just by doing something you love doing, it just works out..I have many many teachers and I have not stopped there! I have learned another skill and currently learning upholstery from my mentor that has been doing it 30+ years.

This is absolutely true, and I thought about as well as realized something, such as Video Games for example. Video Games are really fun and exciting to play, but also addicting. And here's the thing.. if you play Video Games, and you're winning, leveling up and unlocking, making achievements on the game... what is that doing for you in the real world? Absolutely nothing... to be realistically, if you're playing games, even app games on a phone or computer, etc. All you're "really" doing is sitting in one spot and pushing a button to make a character jump, or whatever. But in the real world, you're not getting any exercise, your health isn't improving, you're not making money, you're not even doing anything with your life at all except scoring high points (or whatever) on a game. Sure they're fun, but if you let them consume your life; that's all it will do is consume your life, all the way to the point where you might one day ask yourself "what the hell did I do with my life?" Play Video Games... or go out and put in job applications, and actually get a job (or Dream career)? .. which I do have a job by the way, though not a good one, a bit of a dead end job at the moment, but still. Play Video Games.. or go out Dating and possibly meet a really good Woman (or guy if you are a woman)? Play Video Games.. or make time to exercise in order to maintain good health? so on and so forth, the list goes on. Honestly when I think back, I wish I kept up with practicing Martial Arts, that's something I enjoyed when I was a kid, and I was getting pretty good at it, I made it to Purple Belt (though not much to brag about, but felt like a grand achievement).. these days I'm out of shape, I'm rusty and nowhere near as flexible as I use to be. However I'm much interested and quite determined to get that back, and I'm currently aiming to get back in shape and get back into practicing. Video Game addiction is no excuse. Other distraction could be movies if you let them, or perhaps other things as well.

*That exact same question is something we get a lot in the office. And on a beautiful day I just wanted to get an answer for myself so I paid attention to exactly which part makes me the most productive. And the answer was actually very simple. Most people stop when they think it's okay to stop because they feel hungry or maybe tired or maybe I don't know what. The only moment I stop is when I'm done, not when I'm tired.*

Great talk this morning Sifu Dan and very informative. I know exactly where you are coming from with this. I had to learn the hard way on my own before that i need to be strong about my time, being productive and stopping the being on call mode. People will always want and need to talk to you but when you are busy with something important you need to put them on Do Not Disturb. The only reason to ever interrupt in that mode would be a major emergency which is fine. But unless its something that bad or important it can wait. Also, I agree with putting a time limit on things too. I've started working on somethings before without a time limit and it didn't workout well. Its better to say OK i have to do this in 1 hour or 2 hours and stick to it. People might say but i need more time, i say you will be surprised with how well you can focus and do things when you are undisturbed and left to your own devices. You can really zoom through things, be very productive and successful along with beating your scheduled time. Keep up the great work Sifu. Cheers

small summary: Productivty = maximum result in minimum time #1. Be absolute ruthless when it comes to the outcome Don't be busy! Busyness ≠ Productivity Busyness is also a form of laziness. Splashing in the water ≠ swimming Is this important? Can I eliminate this? What will be the difference? 20/80 rule #2. Eliminate distractions & interactions in your life Phone -> flight mode No social media #3. Make sure you give yourself a finishing time. Exact measurable time: e.g. 45 minutes!
