I feel like most pros or advanced skaters can't really empathize enough with skaters that are less advanced and be able to explain the way a trick is done (for the less advanced skaters.) You really have a terrific ability to logically think these tricks through and also communicate exactly what needs to be done to learn and/or improve on a trick. That's definitely not a skill that most pros have. They're just like "just pop hard, jump, slide, land." Lol. As if we didn't already KNOW that. You really have found a hidden talent as a teacher/coach. SO glad you're doing REAL trick tips.

Took me forever to get nollie tricks that weren't flatground. It's so much more difficult but it's rewarding when you get nollie tricks, personal fav of mine is nollie frontside nosegrind. Hell yeah, love the in-depth look at it! Your perspective definitely helps, sick vid, Tom!

Could I get some support on my nollie heelflips pls bro. I know theres really not much to it besides your basics like flick and timing. But there’s always a step I could be missing
@kjdacod

Start with nollie and stop draging too much for a second to let the deck lift. Be Patience before flickin it. And try to think that you're doing a nollie.

What me helped out with the nollie , at some point all your weight will be on the nose/front. So with the pop you have to lean more to the front. Just free your mind. Actually, its too difficult to explain it fully. You have to find out some mind tricks by yourself. All heelflip variations starting with a ollie. Flip variations actually also, but then all flips starting with a kick flip. If you got those basics really good, you can reach it all. Like for real?! Teenager

This man's warm ups would be the best day skating at the park for me. Maybe just skating cause I miss the homies and had some sessions ill never forget. When you were talkin about peripheral vision skating. Thats huge. Cause me most of us look down especially for flip in stuff to see if our feet are correct. By then you look back up and your to late. I would say definitely practice your foot position more then never to get comfort and consistency. Also really pay attention to whats going on. Somethin I did which would turn me to freak out mode is not break down what im doing. Minor tweaks and angles can make a huge difference. Tom once again killin it

I learned for me to nollie/fakie I have to pop about as fast as I can, especially over a hip or into a grind/slide. Over a hip or some kind of transition it requires absolute precision with the timing. And there's no lazy popping a nollie like you can get away with when popping regular... at least in my experience. Thanks for the video Tom! You tha GOAT! ✌

This is good Tom. I found, personally, that trick-tips were never in-depth enough for me; they didn't address techniques-within-the-technique, as you do, with them often being a non-explanation, along the lines of : "set your feet up; do the trick; and ride away". Your videos are far more detailed an in-depth than anything I had when I was learning to skate back in '99. I appreciate the constant rolling explanations and watching your thinking an explanations evolve as the videos progress. Keep up the good work man 👊 Ps: I grew up learning with the 411VM "The Basics of Skateboarding" (1999) and that thing was definitely lacking in some of the (non-) explanations I mentioned above. What I did appreciate was the filming and the host of varied characters presenting each trick: Vallely teaches manuals; Muska teaches how to set up your deck, etc. It's up here on KZfaq if you haven't seen it. It'll be of interest to any skater of any level with an interest or fondness of that era, I'm sure (even if that interest stems only from how badly non-prepared an anti-professional nearly every one of the skaters seems!). Cheers Tom. ...Joe...

Nollie is tough. I just learned nollie bs 180 on my channel. My straight nollie always wants to turn backside. Pushing the board forward and through it makes a lot of sense. My fakie ollies don't turn and I was trying to think of my nollie like it was switch fakie lol. Nollie backside 180 just kind of made sense. Love the vids.

Tom you are a master of your craft and i could watch you skate all day long. Straigth fire and perfection! Also your tutorials speak out of my mind with 27 years experience on the board. When i was really young (around 15-16) i tweaked my left ankle (regular footed) really hard and couldnt skate regular for a long time. So i focused on switch and nollie. That was a good decision for in my skateboarding future. I was able to ride all stances since then and had more fun. Sadly i tore my ligaments when i was in my early twenties and since that day i wasnt barely able anymore to flick my regular kickflips anymore. So i improved my switch and nollie again and since then nollie and switch are like my regular riding. Some tricks like nollie bs and fs 180s and flips are much easier than the regular ones for me. Its crazy. Keep on the great work!
