Villa didn't bottle anything, we started the season with 4 first team players missing and that's as good as it got, we were missing 7 or 8 most weeks and Emery never mentioned it, wouldn't allow it to be an excuse. We went further than any other club in Europe and were visibly running on empty towards the end. Ignoring the final game which meant nothing and was used as a run out for squad players our final 6 competitive league games were 2 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat.

If you see what he's done in 18 months at Aston Villa it's incredible & only having a net spend of £80 million over the last 3 transfer windows, that's £25 million less than Arsenal spent on Declan Rice this summer alone. Unai Emery has not just bought success,but improved what he had at his disposal,to get top 4 in his 1st full season only behind 3 clubs that have spent a king's ransom over many years in Liverpool 9 years, Manchester city 8 years & Arsenal 5 years in the making is elite management at it's finest,context must be taken into account in this debate.
