I have found this of great interest because of my personal friendship with one of the Volunteers who saw action in Derrada that particular day. The killing of Kelly & Sheehan was not at the hands of the RA but directly at the level of panic & indiscriminate shooting that beset the security forces. The question that those two author's should have asked was (1) Why the results of the inquest were never made public at that time. (2) . When it was queried in Dail Eireann did the minister refuse to disclose it. This is the unwritten reason that Bic's trial collapsed because there would have to be a revelation of the forensics that would scupper the whole narrative behind the truth.
