The Killers grabbed rock by the shirt collar when they blasted outta Vegas in 2004 with the instantly impressive 'Hot Fuss.' Brandon Flowers' passionate vocals roared in front of the band's explosive moves, and "Mr. Brightside" came on like storm. Our 'Watch This' series has artists glance back at their most significant music videos, adding insightful commentary and key insights about the shoots themselves or the career impact of the videos at that time in their career. We invited The Killers in to chat it up a bit about some of their important vids, and Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci took some time to recall a few of their best-known titles. First up, the one the kicked everything off: "Mr. Brightside," directed by Sophie Muller. "I never felt natural to make a music video," muses the singer. "It still doesn't." That doesn't mean they've stopped however. Their latest track "Caution" is currently topping the Alt-Rock chart and its video is superb. Not to detract from his intellect, at all, but he's also pretty religious. Having been religious, I know, it's a big part of family(& often social) life. It definitely causes alters how an individual sees/interprets everyday life. Of course, it could just be, that he remembers the narrative, of the video. Either way. I love seeing his reactions. I'm so glad they're in the lockdown, together. It's made for some great TV. 😍

Are you guys joking? The forbidden fruit is the most obvious metaphor in storytelling. Is as cliche as the black color for bad guys or the damsel in distress. You don't need to be smart or religious to get the message. I know, because im an idiot and i get it.

Mr. brightside was the first song I ever heard by them. I remember watching the music video back when MTV still actually played music videos, I was probably 11? My dad took me to a CD store and let me pick out one used CD and I picked out hot fuss and used to listen to it on my walkman religiously. Now im 25 I've met Brandon flowers, have a tattoo on my shoulder dedicated to their music and have seen them live 5 times. My little 11 year old self never would have thought it possible 😭

It’s not surprising “Mr.Brightside” was the first song you heard from “the killers”? Unless you just started listening to them ? It’s almost everyone’s first song from the killers . Because it was the first song they wrote together as a band , actually a partial band, they didn’t even have a full time bassist or drummer yet. The guitarist had the guitar riff for yrs , he’d been perfecting it .. he played it for Brandon the first time they met, and Brandon took the tape & wrote lyrics overnight. It took 2yrs after that to blow up in America. It blew up in UK first. Because America is too hip hop & rarely does new rock breakthrough to mainstream . Mr. brightside was too good not to eventually blow up. Everyone heard it then

im 14 and i fell in love with the song from my best friend, his mom introduced him to the band, and introduced me to the band because of guitar hero having the song,at first i didnt care much, it did get stuck in my head whenever i did play it, eventually i would go for a full combo, and i got hooked, i listened to all of hot fuss a few weeks ago, it's a great album, i cant pick a favorite (other than mr brightside) since theyre all good songs.

Brandon talks a lot about how he's not a professional actor, but his performance in this video is something else. He's playing a character, and he's playing him amazingly. (This is coming from an actor.)

How fun to see this. I was in this music video :) It's a highlight of my young (and not very long) career in entertainment. It's funny to hear Brandon say the music videos are far from his mind. I always loved him for this video, and beyond, for how theatrical, cool and natural he is on camera. He definitely struck me as the nicest one. After hearing the song a billion times on set and not once getting sick of it, I became a fan. I can still listen to it and not once does it get old!! Such a classic.

I love the little bit of insight on this music video and the simple fact that it's about betrayal, exactly what I thought about the first day I heard it; no alternate meanings, no hidden messages, its just betrayal. Across the years I wonder why I liked this song so much, i mean there wasnt a specific reason i just liked it.
