The King of Fighters '96 (KOF '96) is a fighting game released by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home consoles in 1996. It is the third game in The King of Fighters series, following The King of Fighters '95. Like its predecessor, the game was ported to the Neo-Geo CD, as well as the PlayStation and Sega Saturn. Unlike the previous game, the PlayStation and Saturn versions were released only in Japan, with a language setting allowing the player to set the game to English.

Fun Fact: Krauser is the only character in KOF96 to be voiced in English while everyone is voiced in Japanese

Canonically 12 KOF tournaments have passed since 96 and for me there has not been a more memorable team than this one.

Totally agree. I go beyond it: from KOF 97 on, SNK lost the ability to make the series. They went downhill.

This was the kof that changed everything adding the run and the roll evade. Fantastic soundtrack too. Loved to play with this team back in the days

The King of Fighters 1996 is possibly the most important game in the entire series. It established the gameplay mechanics that would help it break away from its competitors, the animation got a huge overhaul and the soundtrack is one of the best ever. 1996 and 1997 started refined the gameplay little by little until they put it all together in 1998. Tier List: God Tier: Leona, Iori High Tier: Kyo, Terry, Ryo, Mature, Benimaru, Geese

@@eyn85 Well, Geese and Krauser aren't supposed to like each others either. Geese always feared Krauser for the beat up he (Geese) took when Krauser was 7 years old (and Geese 15). Then Krauser wanted to take Geese's place right after FF1 events. Of course, FF and KOF have different timelines so their relation can also be different... same could go for Kain.

I did not get to play this one back in the day. Obviously this was a very good game. I can see that they really cleaned up the choppy graphics. Looks very nice and aged well

96처음나왓을대가 초딩때엿는데 94나 95만큼은아니엿지만 ㅎㅎㅎ오락실에서 옆오락기 번개맞은것두 경험하구 슬러시몰래먹다가뺨맞은기억두잇네 삥뜯긴기억두잇고 ㅎㅎㅎ교회아랫층이라 놀다가 달란트로 떡볶이사먹엇던애기때기억이생생하다 ㅎㅎㅎ게니츠나오기전에는 진이짱이엿는데 ㅎㅎㅎ
