The King of the Fairies is a well known Trad Irish fiddle tune played in the key of E minor. The tune is many times played to accompany a set dance/long dance and is also known under several other titles including “Bonny Charlie”.

My grandad used to play this on the fiddle for me when I was a kid - he played at Comhaltas Ceoltórí Eireann. I haven't heard it since!

Well, this is one way to play the tune, and of course Kevin Burke does more that just play it well. However, it is not simply a slow "set dance tune", but a hornpipe that originates in Britain (northern England/Scotland, under names such as "Briton's Glory" or "King William of Orange"), and it is played in a variety of different ways. Personally, I'd play it rather quicker (a more usual English hornpipe pace) and dot/swing it a bit.
