A trip down memory lane. Lived just off King's Cross for 1 year (10 years ago). Recognise loads of the buildings. Looks dead now for a Saturday night. Pity.

36:07 - I was trying to think of the name of that street. William Street. Turn left onto that from that spot and its a downward gradient for several blocks to Hyde Park, then Elizabeth Street, Pitt Street, George Street, York Street, etc. It says " City ", anyway. At about that exact spot in February, 1982 I spoke some amiable words to some midget guy as we walked Darlinghurst Road towards the Cross and he did a celebratory " Woah " as some sort of group of show girls of some sort were coming the other way as one of them sort of unwittingly struck a momentary glamorous pose in the course of walking. Obviously better with the chicks than I ever was.

Wow brings back so many memories from the early 90s, I lived on darlinghurst road and spent a year on the cross, the marajuana was excellent 😵‍💫

There are so many empty store fronts. I'm surprised because I didn't think Covid 19 had that much of an effect on Australia. [like it did on Europe and North America]

This particular area died as a nightlife spot well before covid. Back in 2014 the government introduced these 1:30am "lockout laws" as a response to 2 deaths related to drunken violence. They finally repealed the laws last year but the damage has already been done and the crowds and establishments are gone. Kings cross used to be CRAZY, and notorious in Australia for its drunks, sex and drugs. There's probably a few youtube videos on Kings cross made before 2014.

The Valley defo, you can literally pop to so many different venues, much more variety all in a little bubble. It's a vibe! Byron is also a vibe!

Kings Cross in the 90s and early 00s was unrivalled. Now thanks to almost a decade of these lockout laws, it's a dump. The strip bars are done and dusted

Well, the council workers won't be cleaning the streets until the morning. Much cleaner (and much less crazy, some might say boring) than it used to be.
