@Muddy Boots Not sure I agree with predestination, at least in a Calvinist interpretation, but then I also know that God's time sense is nothing like ours. That is, He sees all of "time" as a huge Tapestry, seeing not only the front but the back as well. It's hard for us to even grasp, or at least it is for me! I know that God has changed His mind. For instance with Noah, when He had decided to clean the slate but noticed Noah. I see evidence of God allowing for changes to the tapestry as in the case of Lot and his family in Sodom. I have a hard time understanding why, knowing He would have to die for the salvation of mankind, He would start this endeavor in the first place. It is hard for me to understand why He wouldn't just stomp satan, demons and the fallen angels. I am a smart man, considered a genius in academia, but my knowledge and intellect is not even a bare shadow of God's. It is on the scale of an amoeba relative to Einstein. Actually even more pronounced! But with my knowledge of the Bible, which is by no means complete, I do not see God's hands tied by predestination. I do believe He doesn't like messing with the tapestry of time, it could get VERY complex with it's implications, but I believe he does do this from time to time primarily due to our pleadings, changes of heart and so on. Remember Moses, in the tent of meeting, having God tell him that He would no longer accompany the Jews on their journey to the promised land. Moses, incredibly, responded "fine, if you're not going with us then I don't move from this place!" so God relented and agreed to accompany them. I don't know how to explain that. If events were predestined then why would God say He wouldn't accompany them in the first place? God can not lie. If He knew he would accompany them then God lied. Not possible, it would NEVER happen. Thus predestination, in the Calvinist sense, can not be true. If there is predestination then why would we think that we have free will? Just curious, can you give me a reasonable explanation? It's a tough question, one that might be better answered with "we'll find out someday soon". But I thought I would ask.

I believe Amir Tsarfati gave an answer to that question some time ago but I can't remember the exact answer for the life of me! The name Melchizedek is in the title of the video so you can go to his channel and look for it. I remember at the time (or maybe previously) my wife and I did fairly extensive research (books, internet, Bible) for answers but being old with my brain quickly calcifying I can't remember. Now with your question I must go back and research it again! Yeah, thanks a lot! :-) I do think I recall that he was both a King and a Priest who was very highly regarded for his wisdom, fairness and kindness. But don't take my word for it!

@@Unborn-Lives-Matter but it's interesting that the LORD calls Jesus the high priest IN THE ORDER of Melchizedek. I've heard some ppl say that they think he was Jesus incarnate... Not saying I believe that, and I know these are secondary issues, but he seems very mysterious. Especially bc scripture says he had no known parents, and don't quote me, but not birth or ending to his life documented.

@@vanessaparvin3295 I've never heard the "no parents" thing before. The Jewish people gave special attention to genealogies so one would think that his genealogical heritage would be available. He's not found in the lineage of Jesus. As far as being Jesus incarnate, no way, The OT promised one Messiah and Jesus meets all the requirements to a "T". All the prophesy given in the OT of the Messiah was fulfilled with Jesus. So Melchizedek is in no way "Jesus incarnate", that's just crazy talk. Stay away from those folks! Also the Messiah had to be from the lineage of David and Melchizedek does not appear anywhere in King David's lineage. That God did not choose to tell us more about Melchizedek is proof to me that, yes, he may have been a good guy but, no, he is definitely NOT deity. To me, that is proof positive that Melchizedek was not supernaturally conceived or born and he did indeed die. The only other two Biblical personages that never tasted death were Enoch and Elisha. Remember: God wrote the Bible through divine inspiration with men as His hands. If God thought it was important to include Melchizedek in His book, then He would have. Since there is not much mention of him in God's own book then I know he was not that important to God. If God did not waste our time talking about him then we probably shouldn't waste our time pursuing more information. Interesting, perhaps, but not that important.

@@Unborn-Lives-Matter I agree... My mentor told me the same thing. All I can think of is Proverbs 3:5... I'm gonna take a back seat and not lean on MY own understanding of everything. I just listen to a lot of people, and like to question and ponder things when something arises that I don't understand. I don't know if you follow Bevelyn Beatty on IG, but she talks about Melchizedek a lot, but have never truly been clear on what she always alludes to when bringing him up. Jesus is my Savior. That's all. God in the flesh 🙌

He uses the NKJV, Ryrie (I think that’s how you spell it). The Ryrie aren’t in print anymore so just use whatever NKJV you have. Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t begun reprinting the Ryrie study Bibles as so many study along with Pastor Jack.
