The Modwave module's got the same Overb reverb type. It sounds great, but also can't be edited on the device. With all the complicated multi-page editing for other parameters, you'd think the reverb would be editable too.

It really is a good reverb, I'm impressed! As good fortune would have it I picked up a Wavestate last week. Haven't even had chance to even go through the presets yet. Nice tip about turning off the wave sequencing, and some great tips in general. Thanks man!

I totally agree! I really don't like it when synths only show their full potential with a separate editor. I am exactly like you, working everyday on the computer in my job. I want to switch on my music instrument and have fun with it without depending on a computer software.

The Keybed on the SE is amazing!.I just sold mine to get the wavestate and modwave module ,I play out a lot live and it is just easier for me controlling them with the Nautilus.Also,Korg's reverb page sells the Wavestate SE :).Great video again my friend!

The Wavestate and the Modwave 's effects sections are so good I didn't think about buying effects pedals for them.

Yes, good reverb makes a big difference, and is an absolute necessity on synths that layer with one output, any shimmer or special effects I have my NightSky. It is a crime when multi-timbral synths/groove box/samplers have horrible reverb but won't include multiple outputs or a send and return. We end up with synths that can't be used multi-timbral or just useless. You can always just add the same reverb to all the patch layers after the one stereo output or in the aux loop of the mixer, but rarely does that record well, especially if percussion is used.

Almost everything before current era has awful reverb. Reverb isn't very useful quite often on stage, buddy.

@@Jason75913 stage....who is using a wavestate on stage? Wavestate, Modwave, OpSix are studio synths (99% of buyers are using in studio). Reverbs on stage are not necessary except for rare instances where special effects are needed. We need good reverbs in our studio on our synths, or post processed by multiple outputs or send and return.

@@Jason75913 Talking studio only. Stage synths I have no experience. I am a solo acoustic pianist I have no control over which piano or hall.

On the modwave, pairing a simple 2 operator fm patch with the overb dialed up to infinite reverb levels sounds amazing! I don't know if the Pre FX are the same on the wavestate as the modwave, but if they are, I recommend trying out the ring mod's Note (Key Follow) OSC Mode setting, which is one of those nonobvious hidden settings in the editor.

Sloer is very lofi and the lowest clock rate on it has some unique sounds the wavestate can’t do. Modulation is also very different on Sloer. I will maybe make a comparison video if I can between the ws reverb and the Sloer and bigsky Mx.

@@YukiTheSynthDragon That would be very interesting. I must say putting the wavestate into rompler mode conjurers up some very nice patches. That violin patch you created sounded fantastic through the on board reverb. It seems the basic raw waves in the synth are rich in harmonic content. I have just bought the Sloer after watching your vid's and others and was going to do a video with my Roland XV3080 and the vintage synth expansion board but I can't work out how to do it. Would you mind briefly explaining your set up please?

@@abrokenframe82 I use a tascam model 12 to record audio, a a7 mk3 and atomos ninja v for the video. I make sure that both the camera and a microphone are capturing the same audio for me talking so I can have Final Cut x sync the video to the tascam audio. If I will not talk in the video I generally just put the main mix bus out of the tascam into the ninja analog in so I can sync that way.

As good as Peak? Also, I think polyphony might be down with the rPi handling keyboard control duties as the reason?

The reverb is on par with the peak. Nah keyboard functions don’t take much processing power and are more than likely handled by a separate mcu. The se has a keyboard and does 120 notes.

@@YukiTheSynthDragon wow. The Korg rPI synths really are nice designs that keep getting better if only by increments which is the Korg/Roland/Yamaha way. Purposely limiting polyphony could well have been a sales & marketing decision to justify charging nearly as much for the modules.

I agree and for the same reasons, I will NOT buy a hardware synth that depends on a computer for editing. I am also computerless in my music studio, I don't believe a computer is needed for recording music. (note: I am a graphic designer and have been using computers since the 1980's to design for my clients. And I repair computers for my clients)

💯💯💯 I agree on all accounts. That was my issue with the Prophet X, sampling for new sounds required a computer. I sample and arrange on a Force and record to an old Tascam 2488 Neo. Looking forward to the GR-Mega it has an HDMI port! 😊

@@digitaldiezel5870 Too bad also for a great synth the Summit, need software to prep the wavetables to import to this synth. Any software requirement will not be there for you in the future. All synths go out of production and the OS of computers will pass the old app by. My computer interface and countless scanner hardware I purchased all have no support today for WIN10. I have a trashcan full of perfect hardware made useless by software.
