Chinese Johnny = Winwin. He's actually a part of NCT 127. The most recent MV he was in was 'Simon Says', but he's barely had lines or screen time in most of 127's title songs which is why you probably didn't recognise him. He's currently active in Chinese promotions with WayV so he's not active with 127 in their US tour and 'Superhuman' comeback. Edit: I am now more so confused than anybody. Either way, PD can now learn about Hendery, Winwin and Xiaojun from the comments, as they appeared in that order in those very confusing 12 seconds of commentary.

Btw the team behind this MV is Korean, the same team that does MVs for a lot of SM’s artists, including other NCT units. But agreed, visually the MV is on a whole different level than most SM music videos. Edit: they shot it in Ukraine, just like Boss (which you liked a lot iirc!), but the aesthetic is so different.

I think hendery is the one he’s saying “chinese johnny” cause 1. I think he knows winwin, 2. The video is not synced up with the reaction (the reaction is a little bit after the video) and 3. I don’t think winwin looks like johnny at all lol, while hendery *does* look like johnny in a way. Why are we even fighting over this lmao they’re all beautiful.

Label V is just SM’s Chinese company I think. WayV was originally called NCT Vision(I believe) before debut but the name changed because of Chinese law against Korean media so the name couldn’t be clearly associated with NCT since NCT is very clearly Korean

take off is original to wayv, and they just came out with an album. three of the songs are from their ep, but along with take off came two more original songs, which brings the total to six songs 1) Take Off 2) Regular (in chinese) 3) Say It (an original) 4) Come Back (in chinese) 5) Let me love u (an original) 6) Dream Launch (an original, but the views on that particular mv are sinfully low) hope this helped!

I was blown away by this video and song as well! It's my favorite song from WayV so far, even tho all of their songs from their new album are amazing, you should definitely listen to them! And yes, they brought out a physical album but I think only in China because you can only purchase it from a chinese website.

This is the kinda mv that is SO good that you can watch it again and again and still find new things to like about it. Like some of the transitions you mentioned I didn’t even notice before and I’ve watch the mv so many times already. Xiaojun’s part “can I be honest” and then when he’s suspended in the air is my favorite part I think (but I might be a little biased). Also I’d recommend you check out A.C.E’s comeback Undercover but it looks like several people already did lol

I agree. Out of all their muisc videos I think Wayv’s Regular and Take Off are the most ‘NCT’ ones. I cant word it out properly but from their past mvs there is this ‘exotic’ feeling that makes them NCT, like the uniqueness that even from a far you’d know it’s theirs. For me it’s Go, Limitless, 7th Sense and Regular. But Take Off gives off the NCT vibe the best. It’s hard to explain but yea.

Its cool that you watched this awesome high technology music video but if you call your videos "the kulture study" please do some research in advance or afterwards otherwise you can jump to the wrong conclusion and mislead people. So there is no *chinese production or chinese team* who in any way participated in making this video. "TAKE OFF" was made by GDW which is Seoul-based creative content production agency (their other works are MIC DROP and NOT TODAY by BTS) and the main director of this video korean guy Oui Kim who is also the director of BOSS by NCT U. And of course i should mention that the video was filmed in Kiev, Ukraine and local ukrainian production team called FAMILY PRODUCTION ( very famous team who won 3 Cannes Lions this year) helped to create this masterpiece as well. So this work is a KOREAN and UKRAINIAN collab work. Maybe the music is CPOP but you can't tell that this music video is a chinese work. And yeah i know some chinese music videos and they are not good. Chinese production still sucks tbh. Korean and even Ukrainian (Russian) production are far more ahead far more creative, innovative, ambitious far more visually aesthetically pleasing and etc. Hope that this information helps you to understand and sorry for my english

I’d say I had about the same reaction as you did, PD. I had high expectations because I know how talented they are, but Take Off went above and beyond. The music video is extravagant without taking away from the music itself and as somebody who loves cinematography it was SO cool to watch all the beautiful camerawork and editing. I can’t wait to see what else WayV has in store for us!!!

Probably not the intent but I want to make a pun or a play on words because it's fun. What if the reason why WayV embodies NCT the most is because they are the Vision? 👀 Meanwhile Dream, whose concept is youth, is about the boundless possibilities and potential found inthe younger ones, hence their really diverse discography. 127, Seoul, is the homebase, so it has the most consistent style (disregarding Touch, well sort of). And then there's NCT U for Union, but I like to think of it as "uno" since they only ever have one song for each concept so they are creating unique combinations of the members ever time.
