In this video I discuss how to create lag in the golf swing. The ‘Lag Paradigm’ consists for most of trying to forcefully “hold on” to your lag as you transition. This concept is problematic.
It leads to excessive tension in the shoulders, elbows and wrists which ironically is what causes an early release more than anything else!
Creating lag requires a golfer to
increase the speed of their ARMS in transition. Most golfers conflate maintaining angles in the trail elbow with maintaining angles in the trail wrist. The trail arm should naturally extend as the club transitions and the arms drop. This in turn maintains the angle in the trail wrist ‘dynamically’ to create lag!
Remember the best players in the
workd drop their arms twice as fast and twice as far in transition than recreational golfers!
Enjoy the video and start creating LAG in your golf swing today!
Best,
Coach A.

Andrew this is seriously the best explained sequence of a golf swing I've ever used. I've been searching for a very long time how to smoothly sequence my swing correctly for me. Just spinning out too quickly & crazy upper body turn is such a swing killer.

To people watching this video, Andrew is a terrific teacher, and unlike many online instructors he follows up! Get an online lesson or in person, you'll get better fast.

Andrew is absolutely spot on… KZfaq university offers a lot of “body swings“ and it is hurting way more golfers than helping. Andrew explains this beautifully. This is what the late great Manuel de la Torre talked about. In 20+ years of teaching, my experience finds that people’s bodies respond to the task of swinging the club with arms. Teachers Ned to create the proper visual for their students to the arc the club needs to swing on on how the CLUBFACE is in relation to that. Great work Andrew!!!

Hey Andrew, thanks for sharing all the videos you've done. Most "golf coaching" channels are well into the weeds. It's nice to find a new take that keeps things straightforward

UNBELIEVABLE!! One of the best descriptions I’ve heard about lag! Some pros would charge a handsome price for this lesson!

this is so well explained.... just the explanation I needed...thank you. Thank you for giving a very thorough and straightforward explanation on this! I am headed to the driving range to work on this. I am 65yr and have been playing for 25+ yrs, but this was eye opening, as I jump in with my lower body too soon. Your channel is a gold mine for golfers at all levels. thanks for all you do...please keep the videos coming. I just subscribed to your channel. Yours in the only golf channel I will need.... its the best hands down!

OK: Now going to work this to see how it affects my lag. Am close by doing the other videos on arm wrist movement. [seems like my current PGA instructor keeps telling me to hold back on the arms and get the push with no arm movement -- using the other videos have freed up my swing considerably] Ok, work on getting the arms moving faster with the weight shift -- my two swings thoughts, 'back to the target' & 'squish the spider with my left heel.' Off to the range.... Thank You!

This is really good work mate. You have focused on the most problematic area of golf dynamics and given clear concise information on what needs to be done to create a highly functional golf swing...thank you Andrew

Very good Andrew. In the last few years as I’ve gotten older, just past 70, I seem to do better by keeping my back to the target as long as possible. I go to a public range to practice. I see so many doing exactly what you’re describing. I hit the ball pretty good for my age. I try to help some of the ones struggling with their swing. The problem I developed a few years ago, was spinning out with my lower body. I’ve always swung in to out, and hit a draw. The other problem I see on the range, is many hit behind the ball. This video addresses that as well, by shifting our weight to the front.

Wow, sequencing has always been a problem for me, and this is the clearest, best explanation I've ever seen. Taking it to the range today!

Really like your videos Andrew. I follow way too many teachers, and as you say some are totally opposed to one another. In their own convincing way.

Excellent concept for the weekend warrior! I observe one of the things that separate the pro from the amateur is the pro's ability to separate their hip turn from their shoulder turn. A young pro, in their 20's, are flexible enough to do this and get posted up on the left side while their hands are still above their waste in the downswing. (Fred Couples is one exception, he can still do this into his 60's.) As the pro gets older, in his 30's, that flexibility wains and changes have to be made to stay competitive; Butch Harmon had Tiger work on this drill even before he turned 30.
