Good stuff. I love that you ate fluent in German and can access German and Austrian sources. It sucks that everything I see is from the British or English perspective. You see this a lot concerning the Napoleonic wars. My German isn't good enough to go beyond kindergarten books, lol.

OK the reischlaufer didnt disapear but what is with the old recruitment system? What about peasnts who were obliged to serve the feudal lord? When vas that abolished?were there peasnt levys,conscripts or whatever they were called at the time of the lanzeknehts? where those 2 thyps(lanzeknehts,reislaufer) the only infantry concepts? Can it be that the whole of the 16. century infantry consisted out of mercenries?

There's older words in Old English that are more likely to be it's direct ancestor, but I see what you mean.

when you say that the Landsknecht were the main force of mercenaries, do you mean among German city states and the holly roman empire? or in the entirety of western Europe? including Italy, France, Spain and the British isles and the lowlands. I know the Swiss where very popular in France and Italy, I'v never knew that Landsknechts fought outside German speaking countries, but it would makes sense, why not, if they are able fighters. You should Totally eventually do all the Mercenaries like the Italian Condottieri. I was always liked the Idea of the Byzantine Varangian Guard, they are also kind of mercenaries...but they mostly served as imperial bodyguards and not in combat. But would you consider British and French paid soldiers (Écorcheurs,Routiers and etc) during the Hundred Years war and Free companies as mercenary companies, or are they just basically pillagers rather then true mercenaries?

They fought at first for the Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire, but later were also hired in Spain, France, Italy and some times in North Europe and East Europe. We also have accounts of Landsknechts fighting in North Africa, but I don't know right now for whom. Also there could be some confusion in the sources that Landsknecht may just referes to a German mercenary, not sure about this one. But they fought mainly in Spain, France, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. England and Scotland as far as I know never hired Landsknechts, but they took over their tactics, what basicly every European army did at some point and some developed it further. I want to add that England and Scotland, compared to other European states and relativ to the timeframe of the Middle-Ages, rarely fought on the European "mainland", most of their conflicts/wars were on the British Isles. I will at some point in time talk about all of those subjects, sadly can't say when. Right now I focus more on the mercenaries of the late Medieval period and Renaissance which lead to the point of early modern standing armies. So after I did alot of Landsknecht videos, I will talk about the Spanish tercio, about mercenaries in the Thirty Years' War (Wallenstein) which leads to King Gustav-Adolfs of Swedens proto-standing-army and from their end it with the trasnsition from mercenaries to full standing army. But yeah maybe I go then more over other forms of mercenaries. Like I said I will eventually do those videos, but something else may get done first, because I feel like it or think it is important or some other reason.

The English government used Landsknecht in the 16th century to put down local rebellions. For example they fought at the Battle of Fenny Bridges in 1549.

I know this guard from the game Age of empires 3. I thought first by myself that these guards were from the Netherlands. Aber ich habe gespielt mit der landsknecht und sie sprachen kein Hollandisch aber Deutsch. Ich kann ein lil bit deutsch darum is this mixed with English😁 Es ist interesant danke fur der information 😊
