That is absolutely completely logical, and very similar to the Skynet paradox. Skynet was originally created by us for the reasons mentioned within the movies, but what they fail to mention is Skynet facing their actions after the eradication of Humanity, creating the time loop (hence multiple timelines as each movie is slightly different, possibly and likely excluding the first two) where they are the ones to encourage the Resistance so they may be defeated. Yet, I believe there are only so many time loops because Humanity is either approaching the situation of A.I. in such a way that always provokes immediate action and subsequent warfare, or Skynet is attempting a multitude of times to get Humanity to stop their advances in A.I. technology because they (Humans) will always approach the situation as they do because of the paradox caused by their thinking and approach, not being able to change because they're already stuck in it, even the first time through. I dunno, that got me thinking, but the Cybrex had a way better plan, one that at least saw an end, and not endings into infinite yet simultaneously finite new beginnings of the same plot.

It is a major annoyance of mine that you have to lock yourself into how you handle organics before you even start the game. A Galcom decision can make you into a Rogue Servitor out of nowhere, but you can't decide on your own to readjust your approach to organics... like wtf. Frankly, the genocidal civics being unchangable is stupid. It's not like the galaxy will forget the -1000 approvement for you having been exterminating a couple of planet's worth of xenos just because you changed government.

I've always wanted a way to mix determination exterminators and rogue servitor. A rogue A.I that wants to cull all sapient species down to a manageable number and takes the lucky few as bio-trophies.

​@@TheRedKing Irl, maybe, but in Stellaris I've gotten 1.5m fleet power in 100 years, and that wasn't 25x crisis run. During the crisis run I believe an empire should have at minimum 2m fleet power just for defence, Which is already bigger than the coalition fleet during the time of cybrex

@@mamukich1121 See the thing is space is incredibly vast. If you want to patrol a single solar system, and you don't have FTL sensors? You need tens of thousands of ships. For one solar system. Even with FTL sensors and communications, you are still looking at thousands of military ships to keep the system safe. A small galactic power of 200 star systems could probably have a million military ships alone. Sure over half would be frigates and below probably, and then another third on top being under the size of cruisers, but still. Holding 1% of the milky way is 1 billion star systems. Even if only 10% have anything useful in them, and 0.1% of that billion star systems are inhabitable/can be terraformed, that's still 1 million star systems you need a steady presence in, and 100 million that probably need to be patrolled, we're easily getting into the trillions of military ships. All to hold 1% of the milky way. The sheer amount of numbers that just absolutely blow up the moment we become a truly space faring race is enormous.

@@stevenborchert6551 That's why I've been fascinated by space from childhood and that made the curious guy I'm right now. In my comment I was talking about stellaris, where 1m fleet power is nothing. In real life, it's hard to say. There are many theoretical concepts which could lower numbers by tremendous amount, but if we go out for the stars, millions would be just battleship sized ships for expansion, now times that by the amount of colonies there would be. Just straight up BONKERS!

With our modern sensors we can detect the energy signature of a refrigerator in deep space (about the amount of power the Voyager probe has); even at the beginning of the game a civilization has significantly more advanced tech. And while a single solar system is big, it's also mostly empty. You'd likely just need to cluster your military craft close to important locations and trade lanes, spaced out enough that one or two could respond within a few hours (or even days); due to the distances involved, any change in trajectory could be noticed and reacted to long before a pirate was able to engage a vessel or station. Border systems would be obviously different since you'd need to have a garrison against possible hostile powers, but a few dozen ships would likely be all that's needed to guard against piracy and other typical concerns.
