The typhoon class submarines of the Russian navy are the largest submersible ships that have ever been built. More specifically, a Russian submarine known as Dmitriy Donskoy, TK-208, is the world's largest submarine.
Measuring in at 175 meters, nearly 600 feet, the submarine has been in commission since 1980, with a few periods of significant refurbishment in its history. In addition to the submarine's impressive length, it's also 25 meters wide, giving it quite the presence in the water. The displacement of the ship is 48,000 tons and is operated with a crew of just 160 men.
The TK-208 was the foremost submarine in the Russian named Akula-class submarine line (NATO calls it Typhoon)

@@abdielabraar910 Its last argument. Noone cares what will be with sub after launch. You simply cant find and destroy it before launch. And i dont even arguing with you about - who told you that Brits even CAN destroy it. It carries not only ICBMs ... it can destroy whole Carrier Fleet solo.

@@patriotunion7211 OFC they are. As i told - last argument weapon. Noone cares about what will be later if its going to be used... Actually Britain was choosen just because of its size, nothing personal against British people. But if we speak about exactly Britain and ways for Russia to destroy it - it will be mutch easier then ICBM. Long time ago Russian(soviet) scientists figureout exact couple points on the bottom of northern sea where we can use nuce and Britain will be simple washed to La Manche (and half of Europe till Alpes too) and you even cant understand fast what exactly it was and who did it? So no retaliate ... :) But for your luck, noone need to destroy Britain. Russia is peascefull country and attack only as retaliate (with few exeptions)

Those Typhoon subs are constructed as twin, side-by-side pressurized titanium alloy inner hulls inside the non-pressurized external steel outer hull. Those inner hulls are formed by large cylindrical titanium alloy castings welded end-to-end. IIRC those are the largest titanium castings ever produced.

lt had a room for smoking cigarettes and even a swimming pool. Seriously. lt even had a cage with canaries (to detect a change of pressure as such change would kill the birds before a system could, and so give the crew more crucial time to act) As for the nukes its carried and the capacities of the missiles .... formidable is the word.
