"am Allberry is a pastor, apologist, author, and speaker. He is the author of a number of books, including Is God Anti-Gay?; What God Has to Say About Our Bodies; Why Does God Care Who I Sleep With?; and 7 Myths about Singleness. In this episode, Sam and I reflect on the last 10 years of our engagement with the church and the LGBTQ conversation. Much has changed; some things haven’t. The church has been on a journey and so have we. Sam and I talk about areas where we have changed and where we think the conversation is heading.

Really appreciated the dialogue and summary of how you’ve observed the change over the past decade. There’s been a tremendous amount of change, and it’s interesting to see the differences on a global level. One of the positive things you call out that I’ve also observed despite the chaos and division over the past few years is the growing desire I see in many believers to not just know what the Bible says about issues but how to live it out well. Also really appreciate the emphasis on how fragile our identity is when it’s rooted on anything other than the gospel. That’s not just an LGBTQ+ issue.

In the air fist bump with the comments around "Too many people start in Genesis 3" - SO TRUE! I've started going full on 'created in the image of God' lately when I talk about this stuff and making that front and centre. He makes sooo many good points right at the end of this session (oh, all the way through... but this particularly)

I want to go to an English pub so badly. I haven’t been to the UK since I was 13 on a school trip. We walked around Cambridge and Oxford, and it was absolutely lovely. That was …a lot of years ago. 📚

Preston, if you’re in the UK and end up in Reading (near Oxford) there are some awesome local pubs you would love. The Alehouse in Reading has won awards from local people that are very old-school. There are about 100 nooks and crannies to get lost in! I don’t know how it is still standing, but I’m glad it is.

30 minutes in, and zero information on the speakers' interpretation of God's view on these issues. Is this intentional?... And now finished. I see this as a tickler for "read our books"; says very little.

Listen to other podcasts with/by each of them respectively. Sprinkle didn't feel the need to explain everything when he's spent hours on it elsewhere (and years researching).

I remember reading "Love is an Orientation" many years ago. It was one Christians journey toward understanding issues surrounding LGBTQ issues in the church. The problem today is many influencers in the secular culture are more concerned with tearing down any and all normative cultural standards. As the saying goes..."If you don't stand for something; you'll fall for anything.". I saw recently a progressive church having Drag Queen Story Hour for the children in the congregation during church service. If this is where the church is heading...we lost and should admit that secular cultural is driving moral standards...lock the doors and go home. You can't bring a clown into the church expecting to turn them into a preacher. When you bring a clown to preach you turn the church into a circus.

For individuals who are struggling with the sin of homosexuality, you need to understand that there is freedom and healing in Jesus. He alone can and will show forgiveness and offer a path forward that involves repentance and victory over the old man and the lusts of the flesh. We can be a new creation in Christ and have a new identity in Him. All of the old ways can be forsaken and we no longer have to be enslaved by our old corrupt nature. God delivers us from Hell and gives us His Holy Spirit and allows us victory over our flesh. What a mighty God and Savior He is.

There are no individuals "struggling with homosexuality." Only individuals who are struggling with a theological interpretation that tells them that "His yoke is easy and His burden is light" while at the same time telling them that their very existence is an abomination before the Lord. There is something fundamentally wrong with your theological interpretation. Being gay is no different than being straight. You can't help who you fall in love with. If your religion says that 2 consenting adults who love each other are unable to be together, then your religion is immoral. Simple as.

For individuals who are struggling with the sin of bigotry, hatred, and homophobia, you need to understand that there is freedom and healing in Jesus. He alone will show forgiveness and offer a path forward that involves repentance and victory of the old man that has a disgust factor for gay and trans people and wants to exclude people from the kingdom of God. There is also deliverance from setting yourself up as God and judging others. He will give you victory over the sin of certainty in your understanding of the Bible and your fleshly desire to divide, be self centered, and unable to listen to the needs of others. What a mighty God and Savior he is.

Interesting comment. Can you please define 'groomer' and list the 'groomer' actions taken by Mr. Allberry?
