Impressive, intriguing, and totally frightening. This is the goal and reason that the movie production companies are trying to get the actors to sign away their "persona" in the current guild strikes. Sign away your "persona" and soon you will never work again as an actor, performer or artist. You will merely become a file of predictable meta data in an AI super computer data bank. The production companies profits will soar massively for a while but soon the nuances, the freaky quirks, and distinct subtleties of "live" actors will be missed and this industry will die a slow painful death much worse than going "WOKE" and Broke. Disney is the first to slide off the edge of the abyss into financial oblivion. Others will soon be following. AI is a way to cut costs and improve profits, the American dream. "Real" art is a product human feelings, ingenuity, creatively, emotions, love, hate, pride, bitterness, happiness, depression, and the all powerful experiences of life itself. Something no machine can ever replicate, even if based on a real person's life experienced data files and algorithms. Just not the same. If we become so dependent on AI to create our art and music - we will have truly lost our humanity. As Don McClean once sang in "American Pie" in 1971, "the day the music died".

Great comment! It's a hard question I've been tackling myself as I create with the help of AI. Where to draw the invisible line? The main problem is this technology is amazing and empowering but at the same time it can carry terrible implications down the line. But no one can stop an avalanche once it has begun no matter how many people step in front of it. The best is to brace for impact and adopt or we will be smothered. I think AI is perfectly capable of creating meaningful art but that art will be a reflection of us collectively (at least for now). It will only reflect back what we want from it, our best and our worst. So it will be ultimately up to us to decide if art is to die.

@@CoqueTornado We are just making really wild guesses though. Yes most jobs will change significantly but that does not mean you won't find live gigs popping up more and more as a musician for example. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, not much else we can do.

It's clearly early days for this sort of thing but it shows that the future is on the doorstep; no, it's in the living room. Soon it will become more polished and realistic (although I really like the abstract qualities of this presentation) and we'll all be making high quality movies with our own computers. What a time to be alive!

much appreciated! I usually write the story first then use chatgpt to help with dialogue and expand on scenes (for example what shots to show). Overall though I am not satisfied with chatgpt as a writer so I do not use it because it makes a lot of mistakes and creates formulaic illogical plots. It's good for proofreading though. It will definitely be better in the future but even then I would still want to tell my own stories.

Nice short. I think AI will need to make art that appears human-made in order to have significant status. Like a Banksy that is actually a robot.

AI at the moment can only make art that appears humanlike because it's entirely trained on human-created material. I would be more interested in something entirely new.

Great story as such.👍- But I think it is unrealistic with regard to the vote, in that it grossly overestimate "the public"s ability to form any opinions of their own. If it had been real the AI would have won by a landslide; not because its artwork was better, in fact it could have been however crappy and "the public" would still have voted in favour of it, simply because it was made by the AI. People - when they are many enough -are dumber than you would ever imagine! - Still a great story tho.

SPOILER I am honestly not sure. I think it's a transitionary period until people are choosing AI over other people. But I think the billionaire's plan was exactly that what you said to appeal to human nature and he (just barely) convinced people subconsciously that AI is their superior, therefore bringing out their ego against it. Did humans win or AI lose in this story?

I’m a hobby artist. Some ideas work some don’t as well. But at least I made it. She chose to lose the will to create. I never will. I make my art for myself. To make me happy. And that’s all that matters.
