I'm watching this at 2:30 AM and it actually made me kind of sad, thinking about how long an artificial world can survive, longer than millions of human lifetimes combined. It shows how short life is

Some other perpective: The universe exists since about 13.7 billion years ago. So if a minecraft world started ticking right at the Big Bang, it would still have about one billion years left until it reaches the limit.

Honestly this whole “last day of Minecraft” is really creepy. It seems like a biblical prelude to/ description of the apocalypse or something. “The sky will flash the image of night, then the sun will race backwards in the sky. The terrors of the night will come out day, for them to die as night comes again.”

Here's a thought : While a Minecraft world lasts about 14.6 billion years, our Universe came into existence almost exactly 14.0 billion years ago as well. Makes one think.

So, what does this mean for the game's lore? Since the level of sunlight stays the same right up until the end, it can be safely assumed that MC's sun is smaller and hence longer-lived than our sun. With some simulations I found that the maximum mass the star can have without a visible in-game increase in brightness is 70% of the mass of our sun. The normal-ness of the light being produced shows it can't be a "red" M-class star, and overlapping our two criteria within a radius of 5 parsecs gives three possible stars that MC takes place around: 61 Cygni A, 61 Cygni B and Groombridge 1618.

It would be cool if they added an "end of the world" feature and after a certain amount of days (500 days maybe?) you have to end up fighting a boss. And if you fail, the world destroys around you and the world is deleted forever. That'll be pretty dark eh?

This makes me want to somehow make a computer that can be run forever (using some sort of self sustainable and maintaining solar energy or something), place it in somewhere safe but with access to solar energy, and just have it run forever with a Minecraft character on it
