It's the very last episode of the Yamaha XS650 chopper build series... a know a lot of you didn't think this day would ever come and to be honest I wondered myself! It's finally all over, the chopper is "done". Or as done as a chopper ever gets anyway. Thanks to everybody for all the amazing support and for sticking with me along this weird ride. Keep your eyes peeled for our trip to Barber coming out soon. #shadetreearmy #chopper

There are only 2 ways for a build to END. 1. No longer in possession of the vehicle 2. The powers from the afterlife has come to send your soul off to the next realm to face judgment.

I was talking with your friend Moe at Vintage Fest, about what I should have said to you when I had your attention at the Dime City tent Saturday morning. I've been a heavy jet mechanic for about 40 years. I've even taught aspiring A&P mechanics in a formal school. I know a little about a lot of stuff, and more about other stuff. It doesn't make me a custom motorcycle fabricator, welder, or even a skilled Hog fixer. Truthfully, what I know about welding keeps me from doing it. My projects languish. Then, I started watching your channel. You're doing it! You're humble, and you're getting all this stuff done! My hat is off to you! I can't say I was exactly surprised to see you in Alabama with your new XS650 chopper. I was confident that you'd pull it off. Just the same, you've got the right stuff. Congratulations on a job well done and having so many friends to help make it happen. That says a lot about you. I'm sorry I missed the chance to say it to your face, but now it's here for all to see. Keep it weird!

I'VE PUT OVER 100 XS650S BACK ON THE ROAD, THEY USED TO FOLLOW ME HOME SOMETIMES 2-3 AT A TIME THE BIKE YOU SEE IN MY AVATAR IS A MIDNIGHT 1100, YEAH I'VE DONE ABOUT 25 OF THEM TOO. LOVE YOUR BUILD, GOING TO KEEP GOING THROUGH YOUR HISTORY, I'M 70 YEARS OLD NOW AND JUST CAN'T TOTALLY TRUST MYSELF ANY MORE, I SURE CAN ENJOY YOUR ADVENTURES, I'VE HAD MINE 😁

Found this by accident. I've been bouncing around as I dont seem to be able to go from one episode to the next in a logical progression. I've loved watching the frustrations when things dont go as planned. It's very educational for me, as I ALWAYS expect things perfect, and this is my first build ever. I saw the episode when you were trying to widen the hardtail as it bent inwood, before i saw the episode where you dropped the frame off at a proffessional custom place for welding. Against my better judgement, I have decided to install my TC Bros Hardtail myself, whilst keeping the axle installed with a wide pipe around it, cut to the exact width of the original swingarm. I have had one months practice at welding, with a Mig. I wont do it until I'm sure I can do it safely. But your videos are incredibly inspirational. They give insight and encouragement to complete rookies like me.

I tense up - and laugh at the same time - every video you're riding that beast. I rode a chopper bicycle as a kid one time. It was deadly enough. I can't imagine something motorized! Hey @shadetree i feel for ya if you got neighbors like that i live in a nice sub area but I'm lucky I a 1 block stretch there are at least 15 to 20 bikes that are popping off at 530 am and we don't care its our alarm clock time to get up and in the wind. Love watching you build old choppers. I'm 100% Harley unless you put me on a old CB 750 nighthawk. Was born on one learned on 1 and only reason i still don't have it is I needed a trade in. Had to learn to pull wheelies befor I started trying on the wide glyde 😂. Now it's even more fun with the apes on it. Stay safe rubber down middle fingers up

I just found your site today starting with the epic trip to Barber vid. Wish i had found you before your paint job to let you know from my own experience you should have relocated the gas cap bung to the top of the tank when the the tank is on the frame. It would have allowed you another 15% or more of fuel which translates to miles plus easier to fill at the pump. But what's done is done I guess you'll have to wait until your next beautiful paint job! Good choice on the paint. That's the kind of scheme we used to see in bike mags coming out of Cali back in the 60s. I grew up in NYC and Boston then and the East coast West coast thing was happening even then with hot rod bikes and cages. You got some "back in the day" gold there dude! Best of luck with it!

Shouldn't you be making a video! haha jk. i'd like to see you build and tune a CV for your RK Evo to see if you can get it close to the Mikuni, you can get over 100 HP & Torque outta a cv all day(as you know). I have my CV pretty tight for my TC build(88 to 95 change to gears and added mild cam) stage 3 but just ordered a HSR 42, there is no getting rid of that slide lag from close to open throttle when froggy on the wick, I can throttle around and through it but doesn't make me happy even though the carb couldn't be any smoother. 90% of the time when riding normal it's not there only when say my main (190) is open, close the throttle and stay light on the throttle whether shifting or just in 5th transitioning back to the pilot (48). Thought about a lighter spring but idk, doesn't seem like it would favor the other 99% of the carb that is perfect through all ranges. I can't leave well enough alone lol btw 02 FXSTB
