I read the manga to fill the emptiness of no more Frieren Friday, but now that I'm all caught up on the manga I'm back to waiting again anyway 😅 Having read the manga now, though, I can say with certainty this anime adaptation is truly a masterpiece. If there's a season 2 it had to be Madhouse too! 🤞

That's exactly right. We now have cleaning clothes magic, erase millions of enemies in a moment magic, talk to far seperated friends magic. It's human's era already, and our small wishes to make things better decides tomorrow's world.

To Serie that's not a flex, but a spiteful behavior of a child. She granted Denken a spell that can't be learned by a human mage, which allowed him to do great things. He still has important goals, and heights to conquer. And Denken's put the gifted spell to good use. He changed lives of thousands of people for better using that spell. Fern, on other hand, has no idea what she wants to become (source: her dialogue with Sense, around ep.24). So the best thing she came up with was a spell that does the thing anyone can do with bare hands. Do you remember ep.2, when Fern went hysterical after Frieren spent 6 months looking for a flower in the nearby woods? And everyone said "oh, poor kid Fern, she deserves better than having her life wasted like that". That's exactly the same mood.

@@your_neko, well, first of all, Denken failed hard with that spell. and if it wasn't for Frieren we would die there, he would die even after that if she didn't turn a city back to normal, turning all Macht's gold back with it, including his weapon that was made of his cloak. what good use of that spell he did? died later than if he didn't have it? and lives of what thousands of ppl are you talking about, if the city was returned back to normal by Frieren, not Denken? not to mention he didn't use that spell against Macht after Frieren returned him back, because he had her portective spell, that works passively, unlike Serie's spell. he's a good guy, but in that arc Frieren was absolute MVP. and Fern made Serie to give her one of the most useless spells she could think of. she will also able to lern Frieren that spell, which make Frieren have a spell from Serie without Serie giving it. also try to think outside of the box. how much time that spell save them if they will wash thier clothes with the spell, instead of thier hands?

@@Circle9ru Well, I messed up the point I was trying to make. The spell did what it was intended to do - Denken managed to reflect the curse back on Macht. Nobody knew that Macht can come back after being fully affected by it. It was a solid pick, but you're correct, and the spell didn't make a difference. My point was about intentions. Denken has chosen to start these events, and asked Serie for a spell that greatly amplified his chances to succeed. I compared this choice with "wash clothes with a spell, instead of doing it with hands or some other spell". Let's think outside of the box - there were clearly other ways and other spells to get clothes clean with magic. That was a wasted opportunity, and it happened because Fern doesn't care about opportunities. As for Frieren's role, she did great - as expected. But she still required an assistance with getting Macht's memories. Leave alone that she wouldn't go there at all without an initiative from Denken and Lernen.

@@your_neko, Denken took that spell because all those years he was preparing to fight Macht. while Fern had nothing to prepare to. its pointless to compare her choise with Denken, he had a goal, she didn't. if it wasn't for Macht he would pick something else and who knows what... also, why do Fern need some powerful spell, if she smash most other mages with Zoltrack alone? yes yes, Solitar and Macht, but what chances to meet someone like them was? thosse 2 was unique demons, who used human magic, while other demons don't, which means they have no protection against Zoltrak(demon killing version ofc). as for human mages, Fern can beat most of them with what she have. and for those she can't beat, there is Frieren, and they always together so no chance. Fern picked USEFUL spell instead of powerful.

@@Circle9ru I see. We agree on interpretation of events, but evaluate things differently. I think that picking that kind of USEFUL spell is a bad choice. Especially in the eyes of Serie, who knows many ways to get that useful effect, and values people who can push their limits.
