From what I have seen it goes pretty much *cutscene>walking/sneaking segment>setpiece>shooting segment>cutscene>walking/sneaking segment>shooting segment>setpiece>cutscene*, which doesn't seem to differ at all from the older games and isn't very interesting to play over and over.

its a very good looking game but there is nothing to it there's no substance to it there's no story its piggybacking off of better games they have made. You don't want just mindless combat in your games. fine. but you have to replace that shit. Its what makes up 60% of the game you can't just stretch 40% out like you're tanning leather.

and that "puzzle" at the end. you know what the solution was? run back and forth. and in the "battle" with the beast you know how to beat him? run to the gate and just sit there. gameplay.

A lot of people complain about Trico's AI (even though it makes sense he takes a while to respond because he's an animal) and the wonky camera (I can understand this it's a bit distracting at times), but mostly I think it's just nitpicking. This game is great, but it doesn't suit everyone's tastes.

Mei Meme I like that it actually makes you care about Trico. Where as with Shadow of the Colossus, it never once did anything to make me care about that horse or the girl you were trying to resurrect. When the horse died I was like, "Well there goes my mode of transportation."

The gameplay in Last Guardian is also much more varied. Shadow of the Colossus was just like, go to Colossus, kill Colossus, rinse and repeat. Where as with Last Gaurdian, I never felt like I was repeating the same task the whole way through the game.

I never played/seen a playthrough of SoTC myself, I agree that the Last Guardian's gameplay sounds like a breath of fresh air in comparison.

Yes and no. My point is most platforming in Uncharted is scripted, which is intentional and while there are certain scripted sections in this game, players are actually held accountable for most platforming sections. The reason why it's easy to compare those 2 games is because both are attempting to convey a cinematic experience. However, Uncharted tries to be more like a movie, while The Last Guardian is using the medium to the fullest.

Not to be accusatory, (I'm legitimately asking) but have you played Uncharted? I feel like a lot of people that don't like it don't like it on principle. For what they are, the games are a lot of fun and tell entertaining (if occasionally tropey) stories. Sure, they're highly scripted and very forgiving, not every game needs to have the precision of Dark Souls or a Team Ico Game. What's important is that both types of games exist and the industry doesn't give up one to make the other. It reminds me of the Marvel movies that everyone suddenly loves to hate on because they're kind of tropey and predictable and so on... I think there's room for both as long as we get an Arrival every few Civil Wars, and we can still enjoy both.

Spencer Kaminsky I have. I'm actually a huge proponent for different experiences in gaming. And I hope my criticism isn't a deter towards your enjoyment of the game, or anyone's either; to each their own. I will say... There's room for both, that's true, alas, since the last generation, it feels the industry has been swarmed with games along those more disjointed narrative lines. What bugs me about Uncharted is that I feel as a whole, it'd be better off as a movie, instead of a game. Therefore, why I also echo this disdain towards it. The gameplay sections aren't justified whatsoever, they're very mundane. So then why don't they make a raw experience more akin to a movie or a show instead of a game with arguably uninteresting sections? If you die in any of the ''action'' sections, you respawn there immediately, no consequences whatsoever. Or the scripted flashback sections in the prison, like when Drake's gotta fight the Mexican dude and there aren't any consequences for not pressing any buttons, he just shimmies around waiting for you to do something. The game is so afraid to be a game, that it forgoes the basics of a more interactive experience for the sake of passive storytelling.

I completely agree. I too loved Uncharted 4, but I could see how if you wanted something different, a person could find it repetitive. :(
