The Prequels were flawed with cheesy dialogue, green-screen dependency and OTT cgi but at least they where actually building up to something. I watched Episode 3 the other day thought it was genuinely good that it(for the most part) ties everything together. The Last Jedi feels like a malicious attempt to destroy everything of the Star Wars we know.

Years ago I was at a book store and picked up one of the first graphic novels that took place after RotJ. Luke briefly went to the darkside and Leia trained to be a jedi and pulled him back to the light. I was expecting this to come to life in the new films but instead we get literally ugly characters repeating the first two films nearly shot for shot, then this dumpster fire. Hopes and dreams from that graphic novel are forever crushed. I'm done with this franchise.

Which is definitely a variable mileage thing, depending on what one expects from a Star Wars movie. Plus, as good or bad as they were, they opened up the doors for some other spin-off series. Personally, I like the CG Clone Wars series quite a bit, partly because of how they managed to give Jar Jar some modicum of redemption.

+RaichuWizDom True, i`ve seen most episodes of the Clone Wars and i rather liked how they portrayed the majority of the characters and on top of that it properly expanded and elaborated more on the going ons in the SW universe too. (also, i really really liked the Clone Wars animation from 2002, i seem to be the only one on that tho). The prequels did that too to a large degree (not always in the best way but mostly) but that`s not something i can say so far for the new movies unfortunately. Just imagine if we had a storyline about the Yuzang vong or or the awakening of a ancient sith wraith as the core conflict in the new series, which grandmaster Luke`s students had to fight against or something. SOOOOO much material to be used, or completely new stuff to be thaught up, but for Ep.7 and 8 in succesion it has been pallete swaps for: the Deathstar, the empire, Palpatine and a large star destroyer or large AT-AT`s. Which is another thing, it feels so much that they`re making it up as they go along that i couldn`t even tell you what the core conflict is about in the new movies anyway, or why.

It was a fixfic to the much-maligned Jedi Academy Trilogy, except it was also official in the EU. That actually had what you're describing, right there: Luke selecting a wide variety of students, one might even gasp and say it's a truly diverse cast of future Jedi, setting up training camp where the old Rebel base on Yavin was, and eventually the spirit of Exar Kun comes back to haunt them. It wouldn't be good, most likely, as the Academy trilogy had a lot going against it, but it has potential and it would let the series cover new ground in a good way; showing the Jedi from the perspective of an aspiring Jedi. Building something new out of the smoudering ashes of the old, trying to find true balance... not letting the past die, but not letting it take over, that sort of thing. Edit: I'm only now realising you were probably referring to exactly that. Consider the above an FYI for those who aren't familiar with that part of the EU. Moving on. I also love Corran Horn as a concept for a Jedi, and hearing about the stunt Luke pulls in TLJ, the only thing I could think of was... dammit, they don't give that character screentime *and* they steal his act? That's just cruel. Anyway, yes, at least something good came out the prequels. It's not much, but it's something positive. This new series... haven't bothered seeing it yet, but can't imagine what can come out of it aside from a cautionary tale.
