This is just like any other opening. The only player who made the razor sharp king's gambit look spectacular and exploited it to the hilt was the goat Morphy. This is just a long drawn out game. Of course it's just my opinion. But still a good game by lasker.

The "world championship" wasn't often a contest between the best players at this time. It was usually a contest between a challenger who could secure a purse and the acknowledged "champion", Dr. Lasker. Janowski was good, but hardly world champion material.

@Oissev Onos I'll never get too much of the magician from riga.. but it's true we all have our preferences, nice that mato keeps that in mind.

Janowski blundered by not moving the rook to d8.

I wonder how the discovered attack on the pinned queen wasn’t predicted. It was a strong move that cost the game.

janowski wasn't ready for the title, rubenstien was. But at that time not only did you need skills but also money

Lasker plays like me. Found the ordinary looking move too. Janowski didn't think deep and giving checks like a real patzer.

Laser was much the stronger player. It is a pity it didn't play Rubinstein instead.

I had Qa6 winning the bishop. Why didn't I see Bf1 🤔
@Hallands.
@Hallands. 4 жыл бұрын
Qa6 doesn't win the bishop. After white removes the rook, fx. Rh5, the Queen can't take on a5 because it allows Qe2+ by black. Lasker must keep control of that white-squares diagonal and doing so with a tempo on the black Queen is begging to be played...

Janowski tried, but failed. The lesson is - never try.

Not a fan of the word "chopped". Just another hipster-doofus manufactured word, it's use functions as a means to determine who's hip and who's not; it's essentially discriminatory. The word has a more violent connotation than the traditional words "capture" and "take", and so "chopped" is more form than function. It makes the meaning of the action less clear, not more so. Please stop using it!

I agree wholeheartedly. When he first said "chopped," I was so confused. What a violent word, I thought, and what could it possibly mean in this context? Then I read your comment and it all made sense. Of course! Once again, discrimination rears its ugly head in the notoriously appearance-obsessed world of chess KZfaqrs. Mato, you're better than this. I urge you to remove this and all other metaphorical language from your videos. Only when every word is literally and technically accurate will we see hipster posturing driven from our community once and for all.

what a strange thing to take issue with
@everrotatingsky
@everrotatingsky 4 жыл бұрын
the context ive noticed mato using 'chopped' in has always been a rook trading down for a particularly annoying knight or bishop. he used to say 'sacrificed the exchange' in these circumstances. taking the change in vocabulary as discriminatory or appearance obsessed is rather quite absurd.

@@everrotatingsky Actually, Mato has been using the word "chopped" for some time now. You have misunderstood what I wrote and my reason for writing it. See my response in this thread to noodlepdx.
