Got to know her story from the Netflix show The Last Princess, it was very sad and touching. Aside from the main protagonists, I really respect her Japanese husband too, who tried his best to take care and help her
@ignisilluminati8 ай бұрын
Her husband, So Takeyuki, is from the ruling family of Tsushima island (the island between Korea and Japan). Throughout the history, Tsushima island was doubly subjugated to both Kings of Korea (Goryeo, Joseon) and Shougns of Japan until the 17th century. Due to such different historical paths from the main Japanese isles, the island was kinda "alienated" in the Japanese society. And that's why he was so kind and caring to her - as someone from the former ruling family of an alienated island, he was able to understand the feelings of this last princess (Deokhye) who was also alienated in the Japanese society.

Even the sister and cousins of Tsar Nicolas II who escaped West lived a destitute life, they lived as farmers and sold jewelries they wore to survive. All their wealth were in Russia. They managed to live decent lives from the help of Russian expats and the Windsor royals. Same with the last Emperor of China, Puyi.

Puyi was reintegrated in communist china, through indoctrination. He worked and died as a gardener of the forbidden city, his former home as an Emperor. The values of the royal families in history shows authentic love for their countries and commitment to their duties. The Japanese annxation of Korea was from Korean side. In 1894 Japan released Korea from Qing-china for the victory of Sino-Japanese war. Until 1894, Korea was slavary dependency of China for 1000 years long. At the time Russian empire had been advancing to Korea to get non-freeze port . Japan worried about security for Korean peninsula. So Japan recommanded Korea to be independency from Qing-china. But Qing had never allowed Korea to give free. So Sino-Japanese war occurred in 1894. And Japan won Qing-china in 1894. Korea established great Korea empire in 1897. If Japan had an ambition of territory for Korean peninsula, Japan must annexed Korea as soon as the end of war. More over Japan supported Korea to be independency as to be modernized country. But soon Korea had been approaching to Russia by huge debt from Russia. Russia began to construct fortress in border of Russia and Korea. This was very dangerous situation. And Korea became almost Russian colony. So Russo-Japane war occurred in 1904, Japan destroyed Russian army at Manchulia , and Japan destroyed Russian Baltic fleet 38 gun ships on the sea of Japan. In 1905 Japan got the victory of Russo-Japanese war. If Japan had an ambition of territory for Korean peninsula, Japan must annex Korea after the end of Russo-Japanese war as soon as possible. Japan did not annex Korea at the time. Because great opponent of annexation policy ex-priminister ITO,HIROFUMI stopped the Korean opinion of annexation of Korea. Almost Korean people supplicated Korea must join to Japan. But Ito,Hirofumi denied the offer. In 1909 Ito was assassinated by Korean Ang,Jufun who was a fan of Japan he thought if Ito died Korea can join to Japan. Ito was killed at the station of Harbing Manchlia in 1909. So the annexation policy began to move. Japan annexed Korea in 1910. The ceremony of annexation held at the plaza of Seoul officially under the blue sky on 29, August ,1910. Japan paid much effort to make assimilization of Koea to Japan politely. First of all Korean dynasty prince I,Un married Japanese Meiji emperor's grand daughter Nashinomotomiya,Masako in 1920. So Japan and Korea became marriage relation. Prince I,Un became a lieutenant general of Japan army. Prince I,Un had palace in Tokyo, Akasaka. It was called the Tokyo palace of prince I,un. After WWII the palace became Akasaka Prince Hotel. Now the house became memorial palace of Korean prince I,un. Every body can visit the palace now.

What a life being Royal family?? Much better to live in a simple life ,and to her situation is very sad,,from birth to end is suffering,,,now i know most of korean’s doesnt accept Japanese ..! And this time korea is more progressive and consistent while japan going to be lonely country,always their is a turning point after all and still my belove country Philippine remains its consistency as well,suffering from poverty,sad but reality,,filipinos refuse to change is the biggest obstacle to move on to one Country.! But i love my country.!!

Reminds me of the fate of Cleopatra’s twins by Mark Anthony. After the murder of Cleopatra’s eldest son Caesarean her twins (legal heirs of the Egyptian throne) were adopted and disappeared from history.

The daughter died on suicide. It was indicated at the end of the movie about her.

@@valarmorghulis8139 I heard her daughter left a suicide note and disappeared,therefore, I think she did commit suicide. The stress of her parents’ divorce really got to her. I feel so bad for all of them.
