A tribute to Ben Daglish, one of the best C64 musicians, whose death was announced today (03/10/2018). He was 52. Ben co-created the amazing sound track to the Last Ninja with Anthony Lees, also no longer with us. #retrogaming

It’s shocking to think that both the composers who worked on this game are now no longer with us. RIP Ben and also Anthony. :(
@jawn8925 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was thinking that too. I'm sure Ben knew that his music was greatly admired and enjoyed even today. But, unlike Ben, Anthony Lees didn't really seem to be part of the c64 music / retro scene; hopefully Anthony also knew that his music was also appreciated.

With Bens passing, it brings a realisation of how much a part the c64 was in a lot of our lives as kids, and through his music . Very sad.

That's so sad to hear about Ben. 52 years is far too young. Anthony Lees passed away 2 years ago in a motoring accident which is absolutely tragic. The first 3 tunes of this tribute were written by Ben, and the last 3 by Anthony. Very fitting. I'm compiling a list of the 500 greatest C64 game tunes ever(!), and will be uploading this in December. Suffice to say, Ben and Anthony will both feature. Rest in peace both of you, and thank you so much for the music :o)

So Wastelands, Wilderness and Palace Gardens were Ben's? Not to take anything away from Anthony, but those were my favourites.

R.I.P. Ben Daglish. You were one of THE best composers for the C64.

Yup: to me There are always four guys that come to my mind first and foremost when I think about C64 Hubbard, Galway, Daglish, and Whittaker Of course, that's not taking anything away from guys like Tim Follin, Jeroen Tel, etc.

I'm a Speccy guy at heart but I had a C64 later on and played this game for a whole summer to I'd mastered it... It's a total masterpiece in my opinion... It's the Fallout 3 of the 80s. The music is imprinted on my brain.

Great music and great game. Sometimes I simply put the game on to hear the music back in the day... - Thought I was the only to do so, but I now know that I was not ;) Shocking to hear about Ben Daglish. Just seen him in The Chiptune Story documentary..

I can`t even imagine how often I listened to this music back then. Fired the C64 up, laid back and just listened to all these wonderful tunes it had without playing. Those were the days! The SID chip was an amazing piece of technoligy. Even today it`s very hard to imitate that sound, if not impossible. Thank you Ben and Anthony for all the wonderful tunes you made and all the great memories! P.s.: Matt Gray who is the original composer of The Last Ninja II music is working on a remake project of a lot of C64 tunes. He is doing an incredible job. Search for Matt Gray Reformation. He is on SoundCloud and here on YT.

Your music was part of many childhoods past, we thank you so much, your life end too fast, while the kids were listening to your great nipper track, you tried to fill the naughtyometer like jack, your SID tunes sounds from one roof top to another, as fast a biggles fights from them tougher, you often seemed restless like a jumping mole, then I say goodby monty and good bye to you ben, I' really miss every last ninja fight, in 8-bit music your the SID-Future-Knight, as a kid I waited for every gremlin release, as an adult I can only say:“ Ben, rest in peace!“

Great tribute, this is very sad. R.I.P. Apart of his stuff on the Commodore, he was one of the few great composers on the 48k Spectrum if you ask me. The description is a bit inaccurate. He died the 1st of this month - and of lung cancer, not of anything sudden.
