The Gael was written by Scottish singer songwriter Dougie MacLean and included in his 1990 album called The Search. The Gael was later adapted for the 1992 film The Last of the Mohicans.

As a child I walked in the woods of Appalachia along the Ohio- seppi in the Valley of the River. My father before me found arrowheads along the same trails. This was the land of the Native Americans, the First Nations. I now live in the site of Tarhes Town , a Wyandotte village of the Seven Nations of the Iroquois Confederation. This movie calls to me. I feel as Hawkeye, Natty Bumpo , to be adopted by their ghosts of this haunted beautiful land.

30 seconds in: this is amazing, 1 minute in: I want to go and live in the mountains as this is freaking beautiful, 2 minutes in: this music is making my soul cry, laugh, be happy, be melancholic all at once, 4 minutes: damn my friend would have loved this video, just the cinematography, the music, the feels and emotions, EVERYTHING, it's just a word I can;t say, it's like feeling happy, sad, amazed, satisfied, dread, joy, warmth, cold, adventure, turmoil, water, sunshine, forest feeling of home, peace, battle, strife, victory, and everything just all at once. ....I don't have words for this, it's just amazing and my friend would have loved it 💚💜💙♥

I fell in loive withg this movie back when I saw it in the 90s. The cenimatograshy is top notch. The acting is above ansd beyond what most modern actors/actresses can deliver with thoday's writers (if one even dares to call them that. But, what I fell in love with is the score. The thoughtfulness, the soul-bending nature of this music is truly gernerational.

I have actually met descendants/relatives of the Daniel Boone family before! They were very genuine and good natured people. It’s so fun to meet living relatives of historical figures. You can go to the American Historical sites in and around the New England area and sometimes you come across them. By the way folks, the 1776 event: Daniel Boone’s daughter was captured by the Shawnee Native Americans so he had to track them down for days in order to rescue her back…THAT REAL STORY is what inspired the author to write the novel “The Last Of The Mohicans” (in case you didn’t know) and that’s such an awesome family history to have. Oh wow, that was one of the finest covers of this song I've ever heard. Sounds coming from under your fingers have enough power to move all strings in a human soul.
