I love it when the girl tries to cover her ears when Joel fires a shot. I love it when the enemy talks, "How many are there?". I love it when the voice acting blends in with the environment. When Joel and the girl is hiding, they whisper. I just love everything!

They actually added the watch in just a few weeks before launch because they wanted a way to show when Joel was thinking about Sarah without using dialogue. They put so much thought into how they tell their stories. It’s brilliant.

Bein' Ian A few weeks before launch makes no sense. There all multiple cutscenes that show him fiddling with the watch not to mention numerous gameplay moments. Are you saying they did all this weeks before launch? Brought in the actors for additional lines, re shot cutscenes? No. Maybe a few months or even a year before launch.

It's cool to see the AI behave realistically when you have a gun and they don't. They run away and hide. In final game they run toward you and sometimes stand there. Sometimes they even press their face into the barrel of a shotgun.

In the grounded documentary they mentioned the AI being so smart to the point where it wasn't fun, like them being able to sneak up on you and take you out, they could have been referencing this AI but I guess we'll never know.

Casey Color IT was never like this They changed it specifically for the demo And essentially made a whole new game that was 10 mins long Game developers always do this Especially Ubisoft They improve graphics drastically and change game elements and designs and show it at E3 to one hype the game It's still a perfect game (mainly cause of the mocap, actors, locations and story) What this demo shows wasn't possible in 2013 Probably not possible now It's situational

It's fascinating seeing the changes that were made from this demo to the finished product. Slightly subtle: at 9:35 when Joel puts the lead pipe on his backpack, he puts in on the left side, whereas in the game we all played he put it on the right side. Maybe in a fuckin' nerd, but these things fascinate me.

11 months old but I don't care. I can see why they have taken some stuff out or changed some things. For example, when you choke someone out it no longer goes in for a close up on the right side. If you were close to a wall it would probably clip through it. But man do I wish they gave the option to not hold a long gun and have Joel crouch sprint.

Nick 1993 PS Never pick up any optional long gun, and when Bill gives you the shotgun you can use a glitch to drop it. During the last strike with a melee weapon when it will break (board or pipe) spam the longgun equip button. May take awhile but eventually it should drop the shotgun. I really wish gameplay was as cinematic as these earlydemos. Still amazing but I love the instances where the guy sneaks up on you and grabs your gun, or the way enemies communicated with eachother (how many are there! I only saw one!) Or even the way Joel talks to himself or speaks to his hostages. Still wish I could replicate what happened in the other demo where Joel grabs the guys shotgun and wrestles him for it, only to get tackled and beat on by another.

You only have to do it once but you have to be careful not to pick up other long guns by accident when you are picking up ammo. I'm totally with you, I think it looks better when all he has is a pistol tucked in pants(kind of wish they kept this revolver instead of the one we got). I wish you could pick up and drop guns just temporarily for firefights but it took alot of tries for me to just get the glitch to work once. Theres a video on here of a guy doing it in MP called "multiple weapons glitch" if that helps.

If only Naughty Dog had the PS4 hardware in their hands before they started making The Last of Us, they could have made it play exactly this detailed and atmospheric as this demo throughout the whole game. I'm sure that they wanted to keep the disarm, melee, and crouch sprint features in the game too. The enemies dialogue, animations, and reactions here are leaps and bounds ahead from the finish product. I know the team wish they could have had the upgraded hardware power to keep the whole game with this much detail, they're very ambitious. But with all my gripes aside The Last of Us still made me awe.

This demos are calles vertical slices, a short bit of gameplay where the all of the important features of a game are shown in a dynamic and very scripted way...that's why it looks really cool. About crouch-running Neil Druckman said they took it out because when they were focus-testing, everyone would crouch-run all the time and it made it very op.

David Aguilera no they couldn't This was a scripted piece of gameplay made for E3 This AI and choreography is not possible in a full game even now It's more like you're watching an animated film than an actual gameplay The game was never like this This was a 15 minute game made for E3 so that it could run these mechanics and graphics

I love the fact that they show the savage nature of humans during an infection outbreak. It's not another zombie shooter, it's survival of the fittest which is amazing. Love seeing Joel barely scraping by and kicking ass without any bullets.

I wish the advanced AI reactions, the dialogue, and the animations made it to the final product. Playing on grounded is still a fun experience and the AI is actually pretty smart. But just knowing that The PS4 at full utilization, for The Last of Us Part 2, can include everything in this demo and then some makes me so hyped!

it does make me sad seeing this because as good as the game was this looked better for example the fast crouch the way he got into cover the bullets out of the gun the ai talking and reacting ,little things like ellie reacting to joel getting hit the shot gun fight scene

The fast crouch was removed because it was overpowered. During focus testing the players used it constantly to avoid enemies easily. Those enemy AI reactions, Ellie's reaction are all present in the final game too.

people saying it isn't as realistic in the game as in this demo, play it on survivor mode, the harder you do it, the more realistic, since doing it in Easy or Normal mode, they adapt it to make it easier, by making enemies make dumb decisions or not notice something that was clearly there.

DC Universe657 In play testing, people were always using it. They couldn't make it work, because there was no risk for crouch sprinting. So they simplified it. I wish they found a way to make it work though.

the hotel basement seems quite a bit darker in this demo than in the actual game, kinda bugs me. In the actual game you almost have no use for the flashlight because it's really not that dark. The level was scary as hell anyway but it would have been even more atmospheric if they made it darker.

Like when he picks up the metal pibe, he just puts it on the side of his backpack which apparently holds it in place. Besides I hope there's other weapons than just the gun, there would be in a post-apocalyptic world, I think. Even if there isn't, it still looks insanely awesome!

AnalogFoundry crouch sprint would have been useful in the game where you had to avoid the sniper guy shooting at you when you travel to town with Sam and Henry. In that situation Crouch sprint would have been useful to get behind the car to avoid the sniper bullet

The attention to detail is jaw-dropping. Not to mention the fluid animation system along with the realism that is being implemented into the NPC's. I think Naughty Dog is onto something special. There going for an approach that most developers won't even attempt to try in fear of loosing some money. As the studio said themselves, stick to what you believe will be cool and it will be awesome. This is why Naughty Dog is successful and why they continue to make AAA titles.

No one BECAUSE DEVELOPERS DELIBERATELY CHANGE GRAPHICS AND IMPROVE THINGS FOR THE DEMO SO MORE PEOPLE WILL BUY THE GAME BUT MAY BE DISSAPOUNTING WHEN IT LAUNCHES ALL DEVELOPERS DO THIS IT WILL ALWAYS SEEM BETTER AT E3 THEY ESSENTIALLY MAKE A NEW 10 MIN GAME SO THAT IT WILL RUN THESE GRAPHICS AND AI ITS NOT POSSIBLE IN THE FULL GAME!!!!!!

It's obvious this play through was carefully crafted and scripted. This is how I imagine the movie will be. So intense and much grittier than the actual fansite product.

I don't think there's a specific answer, although I do know that you can just sneak past them without killing them in the actual gameplay. However, the fact remains that the characters feel that they can't trust other survivors. I'm guessing the reasons will be established in the game itself, like perhaps how the main character has run into people and almost gotten killed so many times that he knows he can't trust anyone except those very close to him.

For 2012, this game was so ahead of its time. The details, graphics and aesthetics still hold up. Really sad Part 2 didn’t live up to the hype

It was just a short demo, so they probably put everything they possibly could into it. They could be showing off what they will do with a better system like PS4

Another thing is that in the concept art they had some human enemies that were big and fat and had a upgraded melee weapon. It would've been cool if they kept them in and they would charge at u and on hit killu with the weapon but probably way 2 op
