My guess is that these animations ‘represent’ more extensive cleaning, IE: the tube might have been filled with crap preventing more shells from being properly loaded. Though they could have made them better, like having Joel replace the spring or something similar if they didn’t want to replace the tube continuously.

Nah nah, that dirty rag gives you a +2 capacity on any weapon you have by offering it metal scrap.

They will also find a random papers, military training books, comic books, some sugar, a rag, a couple pairs of scissors, and a pouch of explosives.

If they were a survivor that had no choice but to kill Joel for his supplies, upon reading all his collection material & a picture of him & Sera, they would probably feel bad for killing what seemed like a special someone on a personal mission.

Not just a Hi Power, but a Detective Model. Also noticed Ellie's guns are different too. Joel gives her something that looks more like a Walther PPK than her old Beretta Cheetah. And before in the scene instead of using the same bolt rifle, she uses a Mauser lookin rifle. In all actuality I would rather Joel got to use a scoped Mauser.

Yeah I love how much more detailed the upgrade animations are compared to Part II, but my biggest issue here was how redundant a lot of them were. My only guess is that it's because they brought back the level system from the original, so the developers likely had to have Joel do SOMETHING for each individual level the player upgrades. Part II lacked the level system, meaning each upgrade was final, so the developers didn't have to resort to having Ellie repeat different animations each time.

The barrel change animation on the rifle made my OCD twitch. Barrels thread into the receiver.

@@V3LOTIV dude, some variations and the ability to craft holsters (which was already in TLOU 1 from PS4) doesn't justify it's "better" any way. 70$ just for a pretty re-skin of a remaster of a game from 2013 (less than 10 years). Just compare this with RE2 Remake. That's a real remake, this is just a petty cash grab justified by Neil Simpmann and his buddies as a "immersive experience, totally different from the original" just because the controller shakes when shooting. Just let that sink in. No new animations, no new combat mechanics, a pretty skin for 70$. They literally said this was a remake and not a remastered, and that it would be "build up from the ground". Well, they used the same animations from the original game. They didn't even attempt to justify the lack of dodge and crawl. If you are building a game from the ground, they could have added those mechanics, it's not that difficult. But even if they didn't, they could have just improved the originals by adding more realism to them. But no, Neil and his buddies are too busy spending the money you gave to them while they laugh at you all

Yea in part 1 the tools didn’t really make sense. You knew you getting something but with the remake they actually show the tool he grabs, and he uses that tool to upgrade the gun.

Yea but some were weird, like jamming a screw driver in the gun to increase fire rate and filing the magazine rate to reload faster, not to mention Joel replacing the entire stock of the shotgun with the exact same stock, but with grip tape on it.

If the magazine well or magazine has any rust or burrs, the file can smooth out those defects, allowing for effortless reloading. The upgraded shotgun stock had rubber inserts, to absorb more recoil that travels through the stock while firing.

Also, yes, removing burrs is an excellent way to increase reload speed, except he doesn’t do it in the internals of the gun, like in the hunting rifle, where it looked like he just filed the stock where the mag well is. Also, he does put a butt-pad on it, but he could have done it with the same stock, and not junk it all together.

Yea I'd love if that would sync up with the tool boxes you need to upgrade your stuff, the more you need the farther you're into the game and you would just like "casually" find a new part in the work bench, rather than just getting new parts from nowhere

Of course though, ND has the release/track record equivalent of Atlus with mainline Persona games- They are seldom announced and take a boatload of time to develop (Sometimes with multiple delays), but when they do get released they are very solid and polished titles with massive amounts of replayability.

@@Indigo_1001 no. If you wanted to upgrade your weapons in RDR2, you go to a gunsmith and they upgrade it for you. Cleaning only serves for stats to not go down. Even if RDR2 didn't had animations for it's upgrades, it's much better than the garbage Naughty Dog is trying to sell us for 70$. I mean, you pay 70 dollars and don't even get a realistic or long animation? Companies are becoming more and more greedy this days
